Need Tech oriented gamer for testing!
Ok, I think I came up with a way to possibly obliterate game lag, or at least am hoping to find a way to make it work with the least amount of difficulty. Firstly I want to limit my game to just maybe 5 saves, and to do this I came up with making game folders (literally complete sims 4 folders including everything, which can simply be plooped in the EA folder to replace existing one), but I need someone tech savvy to help make this happen with as little maintenance as possible. Meaning when updates happen and it's just the game folder you have installed at the time that gets properly updated, is there a way to figure out what can be copy/pasted/replacing into each and every sims 4 game folder without having to literally install all one at a time to update? I mean if this is doable, I am hoping to divide all saves, trays and such into several game folders, all with updated mods which I can simply copy/paste and replace with updated mods each update. I know this sounds a bit confusing to keep up with, but it will solve lag for so many. I have a highend PC unlike many, but still wish to keep saves at a bare minimum because I use a lot of CC besides all the mods I use. So if there is an easy way to accomplish this in the end, then maybe this could be pinned both here and on the forums to help many other's, especially those with older or lowerend PC's. This frees things up to like have a folder strictly for building, another strictly for making sims, another for maybe doing recolors, etc,.... Please help?
Thanks, TnT_Terry
@tntterry The SDX content will only install into the folder Sims 4 is reading at the time. If you generate a new folder, or swap one for another, the SDX drop will download again.
Most of the other content in the user folder doesn't need to be updated. That doesn't mean the files won't be affected, only that the effects will happen the first time they're loaded with the new patch in place without your having to do anything special. As mentioned, gameversion.txt needs to match the current game version in order for the game to NOT disable your mods and cc, but that's it.
If you'd like descriptions of the files in the user folder, please read this article:
