No signal on monitor

I upgraded my wife's PC to my former PC after I bought a new PC The  specs below

I7 975 extreme

16Gb ram

gtx 295 nvidea graphics with latest drivers.

240Gb ssd as C drive

Sometimes 2-3 times a session the monitor goes blank with a No signal message in the box. During this time the Sims 4 audio continues as if teh game continues. Reading over teh net I found similar issues with sims 3 and 4 but no solutions. So far tried

1. 4 different video drivers

2. checked power supply and cpu/motherbord temperatures ( asus probe 2 software running all the time)  all ok Power supply 850W thermaltake

3. lowered graphics to absolute lowest settings

4. Testing another graphics card a gtx 9600 a tad low but no issue as yet.2 hrs play.

Any1 seen this issue and have any ideas re a fix. In her old PC a quad 9450  and 8gb ram with a gtx 9800+ card she used to get lock ups which required a reboot now she gets the no signal issue.

PC virus clean that I am sure of.

  • Could you try and see if a different monitor helps?
Sounds more like a problem with the monitor than with The Sims 4.

The monitor works fine past 5 years without this issue only started when I swapped over to her my old PC which was far better than what she had previously.

It works fine for all other games and the net. AT the moment testing with another video card in case the GTX 295 and sims 4 does not agree. If that fails will try another monitor

    Thanks for the suggestion

You could also try playing in windowed mode.
Game Options (ESC) > Graphics > Display Type: Windowed

No as I am trying another video card but if this fails that is my next option.

I just cleared all sims4's caches and origin's caches

I really doubt it is a monitor issue as this same monitor she was using past 2 years prior to my upgrading all bar the monitor and sims4  only had a lockup issue . ed a reboot and I am of teh mind this issue and the current 1 one and the same.
