Not allowing mouse to carry over to second monitor while in game

I just purchased a second monitor for my PC this boxing day and mainly want to use it for playing Sims 4 on one screen while completing other tasks on the other monitor. Aside from some slight flickering both displays work fine while out of game. But once I launch Sims 4, the mouse becomes trapped in the border on the first display and I cannot find any settings to fix this. Just seems to make my 2nd monitor pointless while the Sims 4 is open. I've tried this with other games and it works just fine so it seems to be something within Sims 4 itself. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue or has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
