Nothing Will Help My Sims 4 Game...

I 'am at a wits end with my TS4 game. I have tried everything to fix my game so that it would work properly. This is what is going on, What I have tried to do to resolve the issue, and what is happening now. So when my game first started to act out crashing, crashing while traveling, crashing on a community lot...I tested my mods folder CC to see if any custom content was the issue. I don't really have any mods in my game except for, "No Zzz". The only CC that I do have in my game is things to help my Sims look good such as Clothes and makeup of the sorts. I don't have any type of furniture or anything in my game. I don't feel the need to have all of that as of now. Just CC for my Sims. So after testing my CC for some possibly bad CC and nothing changed with my game play, I decided to move my Mods folder all together and tested my game with no CC at all. My game allowed me to play for a while until it decided to crash yet again 😠 I found myself on Cincrits blog to see if there was something there that would help me in fixing my game. I always delete my cache files on a regular and on cincrits blog, I learned of deleting the cache files for origin and etc.

I also played my game while offline and also turned of Origin in game. I have also reset my game using the instructions on Cincrits blog as well. I have even cleaned out my Sims storage from carrying too many items but nothing seemed to help. I then turned to EA to chat with someone in concerns of the matter. I was instructed to delete files from my temp folder and was confident that it may help my game. Nothing 🤐 my game continued to crash to my desktop. I also posted my Dxdiag for the rep at EA and that person said that everything looked fine and my game should run with no problem. I then turned to the Sims forum. Explained the situation. They are so helpful there and gave me good advice on what to do. I was instructed to try and clean boot my PC. I did so and loaded my game and guess what?? IT ALLOWED ME TO PLAY FOR 5 HOURS!!! 😃 Even allowing me to pause my game for an hour and let my Sim travel to Granite Falls and I was able to play out my Sims whole vacation. I was able to travel with my Sims to different lots and everything without not one crash.

Well...now I'm back where I started with all this constant crashing! My game is darn near unplayable. Not even a clean boot is helping my game to run like it did before. I have tried EVERYTHING there is to try with my Game and it is not running how it should. I'm also getting tired of searching for reason as to why my game may be acting up and running across the same "Fixes" I have already tried. Our game always log our crashes and the document appear in the TS4 Folder. What good is the crash report if it can't be used to determine the reason why our game crashes so much??? Is there any other options besides asking for a refund on all my games? I want to be able to play my game with no hassle and no crashing. These games cost too much to not be able to play it at all. Whatever the issue is, I hope that EA can fix it before releasing the new EP.

Can Someone HELP ME PLEASE! I can't take it no more 😢

  • As far as the clientDB file, it is 5,687KB While my game was running, I minimized my game and opened the task manager and for the Ts4.exe it had 1,014,284K.

So here is the thing that I tried last night... while playing and again I played my game for 5 hrs straight (Without any time of crash) I went through the task manager and shut down unnecessary programs that were just running in the background and I didn't load, FRAPS (as I'd normally do) and I have my graphic settings on custom. My game ran pretty good. I only allowed my Sim to travel once the whole time I was playing and that was to visit a friend. I'm not sure how my game will run on this one lot in particular. I will give that a try next. So do I have to always shut down certain programs before I play as it seems to run good that way?

Also I want to mention that I have deleted the clientDB file before and it just regenerate itself. That's why I asked if it was safe to delete and it seems like it doesn't go no higher than 5K.

  • Hi,

I know you wrote CS already checked your DxDiag but to help, it would be great if you could post them here. Either use spoiler tags or pastebin.com

Also, how big is your savegame ?

  • You have a 32 bit Operating system which mean the game can only use 2 GB of RAM. If the Usage goes over 1.7 GB it usually crashes cause it's out of RAM. With 11 MB that is possible that this is your issue.

To check, you need to open the task manager when you get the message that the game is no longer working and then find the process ts4.exe. Check how much RAM it uses.

I would also remove some of these saves you no longer use. Just move them to a memory stick or something)

I have 4GB of ram on my PC and I know that three and a half of it is used. I didn't use to have these crashing probs with my game. It's starting to seem like the more game packs/stuff packs the more issues. With the EP (GTW) my game ran perfectly with no probs. It seems like anything after that EP causes crashes. But I just got done trying to play my game again and I went to the task manager to see how much RAM was being used and I hope I got the right info it said 2,307,19... I was unable to see the rest or was I suppose to look for something else? Also far as using saves that I no longer use, how do I know which one? because there is a regular save then there are other saves save.ver.0 through 4 with slots 1 through 3. I never really had to deeply deal with Saves and such with TS3 and I mainly played TS2 that didn't have saves set up like it is now.

Sorry to post back to back but I couldn't edit my last post.

I wanted to ask if it was safe to delete the clientDB Package file?

Check the file date. If they are older, you're not really using them.

About that file: Is it big ? It should only contain info while the game is running.

That 2.3 is probably your overall RAM usage. Every process should be listed and ts4.exe or thesims 4 would be the one to look at.

And yes, the game gets more demanding with every expansion you add, even with every patch, cause you add more and more content.

As far as the clientDB file, it is 5,687KB While my game was running, I minimized my game and opened the task manager and for the Ts4.exe it had 1,014,284K.

Here's an explanation what user file is for what. You can delete it but it's needed while the game is running. User files explained

If you don't have much as RAM, it's good to close down programs in the background you don't need. The amount for the game itself is still ok. It shouldn't crash if the overall RAM usage is ok.

Traveling does usually put more stress on the RAM so less traveling and keeping the play sessions shorter should help.

Thank you, Crinrict for your help and advice. I really appreciate it. I have yet to load my game again to further test and play other household but as long as I keep unwanted programs out of the way, I think I'd be able to play O.K.

    Thanks again 🤓
