Origin Update not working properly
I just acquired a physical copy of Sims 4. When I go to install Origins, it'll install properly and it'll start updating immediately. Then it gives me an error message, telling me that I don't have the latest version.
"The version of Origin you are using is no longer supported. Please update you're operating system. . .in order to install the latest version of Origin. . ."
I went to download the latest version of Origin, but when I go to install it I get two error messages (regardless of whether I run as Admin or not):
"The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
and
"The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."
I uninstalled the version of it that came with Sims 4, thinking that clearing it from my hard drive would fix this problem ("Reinstalling the program may fix this problem"), but apparently it hasn't, because I'm still getting the same two error messages.
I have a brand new machine; I have Windows 10 and I have all the specs I need, so I wouldn't think I'd have any problem installing/running.
What am I missing/doing wrong?
@Matt_the_terrier Skip the version of Origin on your Sims 4 disc: it's very outdated and won't work no matter what you do.
For the current version of Origin, the files mentioned are part of the 2015 VC++ runtimes. It's best to uninstall your current copies, if you have any, and then download new ones from Microsoft. Hit Windows key-i, select Apps, scroll down to Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, click on both the x86 and x64 entries (if you have them), and select Uninstall.
You can download new copies here. Be sure to install both the x86 and x64 versions.
