pink and white lines!

i downloaded the sims 4 and when i went to play it there are pink and white lines where i need to click on an option. does anyone know how to get rid of them?!

    Why you might need the zip version is it gives you guff about "must use HP/Dell/whoever drivers"... then you extract and force those bad boys on after uninstalling current ones, restarting, going to devicemanager and force them on.   Reason for this is because whoever made the laptop probably has drivers years old never updated since the laptop was current.

    My eyes went blind trying read through that formatting... I didn't check to see if you have a dedicated card.. if you do you need to Update the drivers to that.

    Specifically nVidia cards because many have "Optimus" which means it's switchable graphics between Intel and nVidia for power savings mostly.

    Download their newest drivers and force the game to "High Performance"

    nVidia Control Panel -> 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Add Program (Sims4) -> High Performance Processor

    AMD cards call it "Switchable Graphics" for someone who has AMD laptops.  Not relevelent directly to this conversation I suppose.

    I went to look... it's Sony... oh man... I think there is extra trouble there if memory serves right... I think they had some really funky driver protection... Hope the above works for you Kitty.

    I went to look for a second GPU but the DXdiag didn't go down that far... if it was there it'd be way down and hard to spot.

    @masterofsims44 

    The driver tools of Parallels works differently and I likely cannot help you on Parallels fix this.  Perhaps in versions of Parallels in the future it might be possible or their driver toolset updates.  

    If you install your Windows through Boot Camp, you can have direct control over the drivers.  I think that would be the only current way to fix this issue for you.

    In the future some trickery in WINE may be able to play this game, dunno.  I haven't even tested it on windows yet :catmad:

    We cannot offer support for Mac unless you are running Bootcamp, which essentially means "a slightly different machine but you're running Windows alright".

    If you have the possibility, consider giving it a try. 🙂

    for the Ultimate Collection, you want to find the GraphicsRules.sgr files in 

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config

    and

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\CSConfig

    and then follow the steps from the thread linked above for both of them

    I'm still trying to figure out how to adapt it to GraphicsRules file for Sims 4

    Omg this helped so much! I tried everything! I even asked for a refund on the game(never got it) but im so glad it didnt go through bc now it works like a charm!
