Playing from external hard drive...

I am currently playing the Sims 4 from my external hard drive. When the game opens up, it opens up through my hard drive location. I want to reverse this and start playing from my PC again without losing my saved files. 

Every time I run the game without the hard drive, EA says the game cannot run because it is already running. Despite it not actually running. (I've opened up task manager and the Sims is not there for me to force quit - Ive concluded this happens because the hard drive is not connected.)

How too do I change the location back to my PC when I run Sims? I no longer want to play off of my external drive. I also want to ensure that I have all of my original saved files.

    theblackpeace​  I apologize for the very late reply; I only found your post in a different forum a few hours ago.  Hopefully you've resolved the issue by now, but if you haven't, please post back and I'll try to help.

    theblackpeace​  Sorry again, I haven't been around much in the last week.  But I'm here now, I promise.

    Please list the location where the game is installed, and the location where your user data is stored, and the location of the symbolic link if you've created one.  In each case, I need the full path: the Location you see when you right-click and select Properties > General.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username if you want, but leave the rest intact.

    Please also list the location of the Documents directory as your computer sees it.  Search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command:

    reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

    This will spit out the relevant file path.
