Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Having the active sim perform daily activities such as: eating meals, using toilet, doing homework/university coursework.
What happens when the bug occurs? The Sim will stop the active interaction to do one of the following: play guitar, play violin, stretch, do push ups, or get quick meal (which they will leave on surface and not eat). The sim does not have a guitar nor violin in their inventory nor do they have a high active skill. Often when they get a quick meal they have just finished preparing/eating a meal or already has high hunger.
What do you expect to see? I expect the sim to follow the order of the interaction that I have set and to complete the interaction instead of it ending prematurely for them to idle and then perform a random interaction that has nothing to do with their skill or needs.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

My current sim is at Foxbury Institute as I play through a University save; however, I am finding it increasingly difficult to succeed at keeping on top of things as my sim does not appear to want to complete anything that will help her. Every time I set her up to do her homework it is cut short by her wanting to do push ups, studying gets interrupted by her wanting to play the guitar and if she prepares a meal she won't eat it instead she will take a pastry out of the fridge and put it on the table and then idles. These interactions are not exclusive to specific actions but happen randomly during set tasks. This has occurred for the past day of playing and led me to "rage quit" earlier in the day out of frustration as my sim simply won't do any set task for more than 30 seconds. This only happens for the active sim, as other sims are capable of completely their own tasks autonomously. The N.A.P.s in action are Eco-Friendly Appliances, Free Love, Juiced Community and Power Conservation; which I believe all have zero relevance to the behaviour of my sim (if it was the ones that influenced active and music I would understand why this may be occurring).
- @tylerannasaurus this one is the stuck commodities bug. NAP behaviour from another neighbourhood with Support Performing Arts (instrument playing) and Rock Your Body (exercise) has got stuck on your sim and now they’re doing it when they aren’t supposed to (active controlled sims aren’t meant to do any actions like these against your commands).
If you’re OK with using mods, you can temporarily fix it by using Basemental’s Fix Stuck NAPs mod on Mod The Sims, which lets you run a custom cheat that strips away that behaviour from affected sims. Then you can delete the mod if you want to or keep it in to run again in future if your sims start to do it again.
Alternatively, I also made a mod for Eco Lifestyle which also does the same thing, but automatically in the background and prevents it from happening, as well as tweaks all the NAPs to be less obtrusive, which should really help in situations where you live with NPCs, like in a uni dorm. It’s on my WordPress blog which shows up in a Google Search for Simvasion mods.
You don’t need both of those mods, so take your pick between them, or if you don’t want to use mods, that’s OK too, as I’m sure by now Maxis is aware of this issue but no ETA on a fix. Just to be realistic, they took one year to fix a bug with hand massages in Spa Day after it was first reported here.
