Problem with edge scrolling...

...or what I believe to be edge scrolling anyway. I will be talking to another Sim or trying to complete tasks, and the camera will move, leading me to miss out on the interaction altogether at times. I thought I turned it off, but it's still happening. Anyone else?

  • @wuebker1992  I'm not sure what you mean.  If you do a single right-click, the camera should center where you clicked but not move further.  Without edge scrolling, that and the arrow keys on your keyboard are the only ways to move the camera.

If you hold down right-click, the camera keeps moving in that direction until you release the click; this is also normal.  If you're clicking once and seeing this behavior, try switching to the Sims 4 camera and back again, quitting the game in between.  If that doesn't help, it's possible your mouse is wearing out or needs to be cleaned.  An easy test would be to use a different mouse or trackpad.

  • @wuebker1992  Is your cursor actually on the edge of the screen when this happens?  Is it possible you're right-clicking?  Doing so centers the screen on the location where you click; holding it down and moving the cursor moves the camera in that direction.

It's actually not on the edge. I wasn't consciously right clicking, but now that you have given me this information it has stopped, so maybe I actually was.

Edit: It’s started up again. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

Just to confirm, I am using the Sims 3 camera. Isn't right clicking necessary for that?

How do I move the camera without it doing that? I’ve just recently started having this problem.

I'm right clicking, dragging the camera, then releasing; not just clicking. Those are some good ideas. My mouse may even need a new battery.

For anyone following this, you can also move the camera by double-clicking on your individual Sim's icon at the bottom of the screen.

Edit: I changed my mouse battery, but that didn't do anything.

Edit: Changing from the Sims 3 camera to the Sims 4 camera and back to the Sims 3 one sort of worked. I still think it's kind of glitchy, unforutently.
