Purchasing a new laptop..

So i am in the market for a new laptop- my current one is dying a long and slow death. lol.

I've found two laptops that are within my budge and the same price- But before I shell out the money for a new one, could someone tell me if they are decent enough to run TS4?

Those are the two I'm looking at- from what I've read, they are basic beginner gaming laptops.. I'm okay with that, i just need something somewhat faster than my current 10 yo Aspire that lags and makes it almost impossible to do anything now. Any and all advice would be great, i clearly don't know what i'm looking for in a new laptop

  • @Blowman19  The second model is better than the first, unless you really need the extra internal storage.  The second model's hard drive is much smaller (256 GB vs. 1 TB), but it's also much faster.  The processor in the second laptop is also stronger.

But for the same price, you could get a better laptop overall.  These two MSIs both have an Nvidia 1050 ti, a faster graphics card than the Radeon RX 560 and more than strong enough to handle all current TS4 packs on ultra graphics settings.  (Future expansion packs will certainly raise the demands, but it's unclear by how much.)  They also have a stronger processor.  The model with a 256 GB SSD is $700 and comes with a $50 rebate card; the one with a 1 TB HDD is currently on sale for $690, but only through the end of the day.  (It's not clear what the price will be tomorrow.)  MSI makes great gaming laptops, even at the entry level.

This Dell also has a 1050 ti, a 1 TB HDD, and a very slightly weaker processor than the MSIs above.  Several third-party sellers offer it for $655 on Amazon, along with the "Fulfillment by Amazon" tag.

If you're willing to go a bit higher, this Lenovo is $711, again from a third-party seller and fulfilled by Amazon.  It has a stronger graphics card than the 1050 ti, plus a 512 GB SSD and the same processor as the MSIs.  The Nvidia 1650 may or may not be quite strong enough to run all current and future Sims 4 packs together on ultra settings, depending on how the game develops, but a mix of high and ultra settings would always be fine.

Since I don't know your preferred budget, I stopped there.  Besides, the next graphics cards up from a 1650 start around $900, so that's a significant difference from what you're currently considering.

If you have any questions, or are looking for something a bit different, please feel free to ask.
