Do i purchase packs from EA app or Steam?

Hi,

I recently downloaded sims 4 from steam however it prompted me to link to me ea account on the first launch. I’ve been waiting to purchase packs as I’m struggling to play without them, baring in mind I play with a lot of mods 😅.

Just wondering if anyone knew which platform it would be best for me to purchase the packs on?

Many thanks

  • Lozza4090  It's simplest to buy all your packs on the same platform.  It sounds like you haven't spent any money yet, so if it's all the same to you, I'd suggest removing the game from Steam and installing it through the EA App, then buying everything there.  While Steam is stable overall, it does require the EA App to be running while you play, and having two launchers just adds another point of failure.

However, if you do want to play through Steam for one reason or another, that's fine too.  Buy everything through Steam to keep things simpler.  If there's a good sale in the EA App you don't want to miss, don't worry, it'll come to Steam soon too, or Steam will be a part of the next sale of Sims 4 content.

Thank you for your response, I’m just making sure that I completely understand what you are saying before I go and uninstall.

If I remove sims 4 from my ea app and steam and then log into my ea app with the account I logged in as before. (Or would I need to create a new account?)  I would need to then install sims 4 as a new game. Then I can go ahead and wait for the next sale.

    Thanks again!

I recommend buying directly from ea. All sims 3 that I got from local target and linked disappeared on me. Looks like ea has habit to   keep only games they have records in your library. I had a full set of sims 3, they didn't left even base game

lihtaruk Oh okay, thank you! I’ll make sure to stay on one platform.
Hopefully you got sims 3 all back and working

  • Lozza4090  Sorry for the late reply, and yes, that is exactly what I was saying.  You don't need to create a new EA account though; it should be enough to remove the game from your Steam library.

puzzlezaddict, Thank you once again!  I followed your advice and was able to reinstall the game and buy a few packs whilst they are on sale.
