Re: A single savefile is not appearing in-game anymore

@CyanideBread ver0-4 are backups, the game can't read those unless you use the recover function.

It's best if you move everything out and put the ones that are just called Slot_xxxxxxxx.save (xxxxxxxx being a 8 digit hexnumber) back. Those are the only ones the game will recognize.

Count how many you have and how many show up and check by hovering over the folder icon which one is missing.

I am not sure what you mean here. I did count the files, though, and it gave me 8 save-files - the amount there is supposed to be.
  • No, I am still missing the household that dissappeared. Only 7 households appear in-game.

@CyanideBread OK, then which number are you missing ? There's a little folder icon that will give you the name of each file.

This way you can find out which one is not showing up.
  • Could you post an example of what that folder icon looks like? I'm not sure I am following

  • Thank you. It appears that the file that is not working is the one called "slot_00000002.save".

@CyanideBread Could you try if it shows up if you change the s from small letter to capital letter ?

    So Slot_00000002.save ?

@CyanideBread From the naming, I can't see a reason why it shouldn't show up.

Maybe something corrupted ? If you're willing to share it, you can upload the file to google or one drive and pm me the link

Will need to wait till tomorrow though as I'm calling it a night.
  • I can't tell why it shouldn't appear either.

I will send a link to a file in google drive.

@CyanideBread The good news is, it shows up for me. The bad news, now we still don't know why it's not showing for you :D

The path shown on the folder is exactly the same as your windows path to the file, right ?
  • Okay, something very strange has just happened.

Good thing is: my dissappeared world has just come back when I opened Sims to check the file path. I have no idea why, as I haven't done anything.

Bad thing is: now my second-most played household has dissappeared. It's the save called "Slot_0000000f.save", and it's file seems to have changed from '.save' to '.save.tmp' (a tmp-file) for some reason.

@CyanideBread Did it gets stuck saving ?

Is that with the game closed ?

Tbh, I think your setup isn't working very well with Sims.
  • Okay, so I safe-copied the .tmp-file and changed the file from .tmp to .save and loaded Sims, and both worlds are now back.

I have no idea how, but now both the original and the new problem is gone. Both worlds are working and I can play them just fine.

Thanks for your help, I am sure something made it work along the way since I originally started this topic 👍
