Re: Best laptop for the Sims 4

It's in Brazilian Reais, actually, so $800 equals about R$4.000,00. Most laptops I found on US forums are also available here, and I honestly couldn't find a way to put it into the Brazilian forum, if there even is one.

It doesn't have to be a gaming laptop, just one that runs specifically The Sims very smoothly. I have no need for too much storage! Thank you!

@forrxst  If you'd like, I can look at any online stores where you'd be willing to buy and recommend specific laptops.  Inventory may be essentially the same in hte U.S. and Brazil, but prices usually are not, both in terms of averages and for any given model.  So a laptop that might cost $750 here could easily be the equivalent of $850-900 there.

Or, if you'd prefer to shop on your own, I can list the specs to look for.  The basics are simple: pick a laptop with a good graphics card and go from there.  In your price range, the other hardware paired with a fast card should be at least good enough for Sims 4.

If you're willing to go with a gaming laptop, look for something with an Nvidia 1650.  The card can run Sims 4 on ultra graphics settings, with some room to spare, and any laptop that contains one should be built to handle a gaming workload.  Examples of good cheap gaming laptops are the Acer Nitro and Asus Tuf lines; Dell and HP also make good entry-level laptops, although prices are more variable.  Regardless, the graphics card is the most important detail, not the manufacturer.  Even giving up say 5% in performance for a less than perfect laptop with a 1650 is far better than buying a fully optimized laptop with a slower card.

If you don't want a gaming laptop, or can't find anything you like, the next level down in graphics cards is the MX line.  I wouldn't go lower than an MX350, and I'm not sure the MX450 is available yet in Brazil, although it's possible.  These laptops can vary quite a lot in performance though, so if you're considering one, please either check its benchmarks or link it for me so I can do so.

Below that, the fastest integrated graphics chips are paired with an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U or  R5 5600U (or higher), or an Intel i7-1065G7.  You shouldn't have to go any lower than these.  These chips should be able to handle high graphics settings, although perhaps not ultra.  Again, it's worth checking reviews in this class of laptops: some models are tuned more for performance, and others are very much not.

If you have more questions, either generally or in reference to a particular model, please feel free to ask.
