Re: Can't buy anything Sims 4

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

Thank you. But it didn't solve my issue. ☹️

    EDIT: SOLVED

I solved it by moving the household to another lot and now the issue was no longer there.

I was then able to move back the household to the same lot and everything still works.

    NEW PROBLEM

    Then I noticed another problem.
Some of the lot I can't change the lot type on.
On these lots this fix did not work.

I tried to do the fix where you buy the lot as a retail then sell it. This worked on some lots but not for all.

On one of these lots I get the message "sims can only purchase unowned retail stores or unoccupied residential plots"...

    MY PROBLEM NOW...

One of my households managed to live on this lot before. I then had to move them because I wasn't allowed to buy anything.
I can't move them back because the problem seems to be permanent.
This lot also seems to be a "bar" according to the neighbors.

So I guess that I now have a lot that is unplayable.

    SIMPLE SOLUTION?

I guess that I can save all my households and place them in a completely new game, the problem here is that I want my family tree and relationships to stay the same.
    Any tips?

How many Sims do you have that you want to keep their relationships ?

Easiest is to install MC Command Center and fix them up after you moved everything to a new save.

Bit of work but better than using cheats which will probably take forever.

If you have 8 Sims or less that you want to keep the relationships, you can just put them in one family and then split up in the new game.

Also would you be willing to share your broken save game ?

    Thank you. 🙂

I was thinking of doing that but I have around 18 Sims that I play.

Everything is working fine for now except for that one lot that I can't buy as retail.
So I may just leave it like that. (Even though it annoys me 🤒)

I just tested a save today with this issue. Try traveling to that lot first with any family and buy it while you're on the lot.
