Re: can't press load game

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.53.115.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Seasons, Get Together, Parenthood, Toddler Stuff, Holiday Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I'm not sure. I don't know if it's happening to everyone or just me.
What happens when the bug occurs? The Load Game button is unresponsive so I can't load my other save files.
What do you expect to see? I expect the Load Game button to work again just like New Game and the Play button work.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Immediately following the change in Sims 4's look and the addition of new content, the Load Game button became unresponsive.

If I hover my cursor over the Play button, the blue triangle turns green, the button kind of jumps, there's a little sound, and the cursor changes to look like a hand pointing to it. When I click on it, it opens my most recently played saved game. Well and good.

If I hover my cursor over the New Game button, the blue letters turn green and the cursor changes to look like a hand again. If I click on it, the pop up asking me if I'm new to Sims and want a tutorial or not appears. Well and good. That's how it should be.

But when I hover over the Load Game button, nothing happens. The button doesn't change, the cursor doesn't change, and when I click on it, nothing happens. It's like it's not a button anymore.

The one exception to this is one time I clicked on New Game, then hit the little x in the upper right corner when it asked if I wanted a tutorial because I didn't actually want to start a new game, and then suddenly, the Load Game button worked again! I clicked on it and the menu of my saved games popped up! I clicked out of that and clicked on it again. It still worked! Then I exited out of the game and reopened it to see if the same thing would work again. It didn't. Tried it a few times and it didn't.

I shut down my computer and restarted it. No luck, not even when I click on New Game and exit out of the pop up.

    Go to the Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option: "repair game"
Start a new game with a random sim, play 5 minutes and save it option "save as..."
After this, the Load Button should work.

One note - if you have any mods move the mods folder to the desktop. Some outdated mod can cause it.

    I don't work for EA

Change the resolutions settings in the game options. Try the highest first.

If it does not work, it looks like the configurations have been damaged. (files responsible for running old safes and saving the game in the "save as" option) Now the question is - where they were damaged - in the current game folder or in the installation files folder. If this is the installation file then the game repair should remove this error.

However, if it is a file in the current game folder, you need to delete the damaged file so that the game can replace it after switching on.
Unfortunately, to delete such a corrupt file you have to reset the entire game folder. You will no loss in the process neither old safes nor libraries.
.Step 1. Rename The Sims4 folder to "The Sims4 old"
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
    Origin/Library - right-click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old, one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder. Start a new game with a random sim and play for 2 minutes,
save the game and check if load button is working now
    If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
    "saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4 old" folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7, Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file
Step 9. If you don't use mods - skip this step.
Check if there are newly updated version mods you are using.
Then copy and paste your mods and CC from old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC try 50/50 method ( divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)
Step. 10. If all is OK - delete The Sims4 old folder. Now you will have only one game folder working properly.

If it will not work you need reinstall the game

  • Ever since the update, I can't load any of my saved games.  I can only play the last saved game.  The button for "Load" doesn't act as though it's clickable.

  • I am unable to load saved games on The Sims 4 ever since there has been a major update. I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it but it still does not work. The Load Game is not clickable. What's going on?
