Re: Constant Sims 4 Windows PC error message?

I created a new save game without any mods or cc like you said, and played for about an hour. There were no errors, so maybe it's a problem with the mods or cc that I have? So I made sure I had the most up to date version of the mods but I am yet to try out my original game again and see if that's the issue.

When I opened Windows PowerShell and entered the text you mentioned, it said:

Error: 740

Elevated permissions are required to run DISM.
Use an elevated command prompt to complete these tasks.
PS C:\Users\imeld>

I restarted my computer and it's up to date.

@salteii The PowerShell error is what happens when the regular version of PowerShell, not the admin one, is opened. Make sure you're specifically choosing the entry labeled "PowerShell (Administrator)," and that you're using an admin account.

It does sound like the problem is a mod or possibly a cc item, but it's still useful to run DISM and sfc. I run them every couple months just to be thorough.

Okay I ran the admin PowerShell, and it said:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

@salteii That's good, and now you can try manually running the Windows updates as described. If DISM repaired something that was previously corrupt, there may be an update or two that were stuck and can now go through.

Anyway, since the game runs well in a clean folder, you can start adding your content to the new folder and testing. Any time you get a crash, you'll know that something in the last batch of files is a problem, and you'll need to split and retest until you find out which one is the culprit. If you have a lot of mods, it might be easier to download new versions that have been confirmed to work with the newest patch.
