Re: Crashing while using "Ask Sim to Move in" option

Thank you Lamheba 🙂 I don't believe my problem had anything to do with cc or mods. I know very very little about Sims 4. I decided to re-install because it was one problem after another with my game  I know a bit about computer's and when I get a few errors or it's running a tad slow  every 12mths or so I give my pc a fresh install and the fact I had been playing the same game since Sims 4 came out I think it's like any other game you get errors and collect * along the way.  This might not work for everyone as some pc specs can play a part in crashes eg: Graphics Cards,Memory, but for me this did work and my game is running sweet as 🙂 I wish the same good luck for you!!!

One last question :D reinstalling removes all achievements right? I achieved a lot and the family I'm playing is in its 8th generation so i'd feel sad if all that just got thrown out of the window xD

  • Firstly Thanks PhantomLover for helping 🙂 Yes Lamheba you will lose everything unless you make a backup/or make a copy. I didn't do that because my save games had many errors/bugs so was better to have a clean slate! I hope it fixes your problem and that the error you have isn't in your save games Good Luck!! 🙂

    Hey Phantomlover,

It didn't work ☹️ I unistalled then installed again but nothing happened, I noticed that the sims' multitasking got better and so did the speed of loading but the "ask to move in" didn't work. Like you said, I didn't lose my saved games or the stuff in my library. I wonder if I'll have to delete everything like cheeky minx!

I even tried moving in sims (from the library) to my current household and it just crashed again. What do you recommend? cause at this point I think I won't be able to go on with the game till I figure this out.

    Thanks a lot you guys.

Also, cheeky minx sorry for continuing to post on your thread xD

Try moving the save games and the other folders you would normally back up, to a different location on your computer. For example your desktop.
And try it that way, the game thinks it has a clean install and will make the folders again, that way you can try, if it doens't work you just trow away the new files and put the old once back in the folder.

  • Aww Lamheba I am sorry!! but to be perfectly honest I thought it wouldn't work but was hoping it would for you!! I think for me it was errors right through my save games/Tray folder so my only option was to get rid of everything and start fresh!! I know you said dont have any CC or Mods but everything in your library be it your creations or others from the gallery stores files in your Tray folder in your game on your computer and could be a problem so yes I agree with PhantomLover and I don't mind at all this thread being left opened because you still have this problem as my knowledge of Sims 4 is limited I would take any advice Phantomlover offers 🙂

Well, "ask to move in" definitely worked like you said, after removing the old saves (I backed up) and the tray and starting a new game with a new household. It worked for the new game. However when I moved back the old saves and tried the "ask to move in" while playing with the old househiold.... it didn't work and it crashed. So, I'm guessing there's something wrong with the old save files, right?

I don't mind redoing all the achievements and the collections if this means that this problem won't happen again. So, what are my options here? :D

Either way, thank you so much. You've been very helpful.

Yes, I seems to be a bug in that case.
I can't say it won't happen again, but I think one of the Hero's will make a notice of this to the EA team, and it might just be solved in the next update.

  • Yes it seems so Lamheba as that same thing happened in my game so only option was too delete save games ☹️ I too think it may very well maybe a bug that happens when you get so far into playing with one family as it was in my case and would seem in yours so I do hope as PhantomLover said it might be fixed with an update. All the very best Lamheba and Happy Smooth Simming 🙂
