Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Anti-Virus blocking User Folder (Screenshots/Gallery/Mods..)

Hello siimmers. So after the most recent update. My mods didnt pop up. I uninstalled the game. I even made a new mods folder. I went searching on the web and here's the solution

Step 1. Go to documents

Step 2. Make a copy of the Electronic Arts Folder and save it to your desktop

Step three. Delete the original EA Folder

Step 4. Restart your game

The game will then create a new EA folder and you should be able to copy all your mods and other saves to your new EA file.

Hopefully this works for all you guys and Happy simming

@kiku72 When did you get this error ? Is that an error from the game, origin or your Antivirus ? Could you post a screenshot ?

hi --thank you for replying--i need administration rights to add an application?  i''m new to the pc and windows.  i was playing the sims 4 and used custom content (something new to me) and then suddenly origin or windows needed an update.  ever since then my computer was considered by an ea agent as crashing.  when the sims travelled on a date the computer screen would freeze up and it would say:  The Sims 4 (Not Responding).  so the tech suggested i  dump my custom content and try to uninstall and then reinstall origin and the sims.  so i began playing the game again, until i came to the gallery area and opened up ''my library'.  i noticed that i had red xs on some of the households i created.  i think it's because i  dumped the custom content out of my game and also because i reinstalled a new version of the game without the custom content--is that right?  also i was wondering if my sims 4 was saving the game to one drive (the cloud).  the ea tech told me that the sims was not supposed to run or save from one drive and that it would be saved to origin.  if i download custom content is it saved through one drive?  this is what i was wondering about as to how the game would connect to one drive.  in other words, is saving my game and or using custom content using one drive by default ????--i hope i'm makinging myself clear.---thank you

@kiku72 Are you using oneDrive ? You can run the game with either oneDrive or using the local folder but the game often likes to switch between them so your data seems lost. I do recommend using the local folder and switching oneDrive off for the game but that doesn't have anything to do with Origin cloud save. The game doesn't use Origin cloud save at all.

The redX are usually caused by the game not being able to download the cache files to your cache folder which is most often the case if your antivirus program is blocking the user folder.

So let's take step by step:

    - What security software are you using ?
    - Are you still getting that error you have posted above ?
    - Is the user account your playing on an admin account (it's advised to use an admin account. Non-admin accounts often lack the rights the game needs).

My issue was I can’t get on the gallery with this help with that. Do you think? You said this is for your mod, so I’m not sure if I should try that. I have tried everything.
    Also, thanks for sharing that
