Re: ''Destination folder doesn't exist''

@MA377REA  Please create a new folder on D.  Call it whatever you want, just not "The Sims 4."  Choose that folder when you want to install the game.

If that doesn't work, uninstall the EA App and reinstall it.  When you reinstall, you should see the option to "customize setup" or similar.  The only option there is to choose a custom install location; choose the new folder you created on D.  Then try again to install Sims 4.  The App should automatically try to install to the custom location.

@puzzlezaddict Hey, I tried to uninstall the EA app, and then download again. I changed the folder to my new one at the ''customize setup'' option, and then tried to download. It took a while before anything showed up this time, but the same ''destination folder doesn't exist'' keeps popping up...

@MA377REA  Please post the error message, or at least the part where it lists the folder it's trying to use.  Please also let me know what folder you chose as the location to install Sims 4.

  • How?? I've changed and tried to redownload 3 times already nothing is working I'm also downloading on a external hard drive.

@nachosbaby22  Is Sims 4 actually installing on the external drive, as in, can you see the files there?  The reason I ask is because there are always going to be two "The Sims 4" folders, one that contains the game's program files and the other that contains user data.  The program files can be installed wherever you want; the user folder is always in Documents > Electronic Arts.

If the problem is the user folder, and you want it on the external drive, use this guide to create a symbolic link:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2020/02/moving-windows-documents-folder-to-external-drive-via-symbolic-link.html

Please make sure the user folder and the program files are separate—do not combine the two, or the game may not work now or stop working later.

@LadyAngelchan  That error is typically antivirus-related.  So set exceptions in your AV for EADesktop.exe; plus TS4_x64, TS4_DX9_x64, and TS4_Launcher_x64, or the entire Bin folder they're in.
