    @SweetSimEssence It's a mystery.

Is it just the Uni text that's missing ? Try moving it to the desktop anyways and see what happens when you do the workaround again.

Do you have more than one language available in Origin or just english ?
  • @crinrict Hey there! I believe I'm having the same problem, text doesn't show up where it should, most of the time it is blank, or there is some code appearing instead. I have tried repairing my game through the Origin installer, but it did nothing. Text shows up properly in the rest of the game, it is just on the Discover University Life expansion pack where this happens. I am puzzled as to why this might be happening, as I moved to my desktop the few mods that I had, and other than that, I have not messed with the game in any other way. I hope you can help me out, because I am not sure what I can do about this.

    Kind regards, Max.

@maxetepavo Did you try the rest of the workarounds in the thread linked earlier ? Like change the language back and forth ?
  • Yes, I also tried deleting the thumbcache file, but it did nothing; this is really strange.

@maxetepavo Are you playing in english too and you have the file mentioned above and it's the correct size ?
  • @crinrict Yes my game, and my Origin are set in english, but I can't seem to find the file that you are mentioning, I tried repairing twice now, but still, nothing.
  • @crinrict I don't have the Origin_games file, both of my sims games (The sims 3, and The Sims 4), are located inside a folder named Electronic Arts.
I also don't have the ep08 file, or any of the pack files for that matter, but everything works fine. (Except for this issue).
I don't know where the pack files are located at all, in fact, I tried finding them to delete the "Discover University" file, which, if I'm not wrong, would be ep08, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Do you have any suggestions regarding where it might be? As I said, I don't have the "Origin_games" file.

@maxetepavo You're probably looking in documents. Depending on where you install the games, the folder name can vary.

Check in Origin what path is used to install the games.

You'll find it under: Origin - Application Settings - Install and Saves
  • I finally got it working! 🙂 thought I'd share in case it helps anyone else

    1) I backed up my "saves" folder in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves - after I backed it up on a USB, I deleted this folder. I then followed the steps in this post: https://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/Info-Request-Codes-instead-of-text/m-p/4213308#M27260

    2) I started a new game (without my backed up saves), created a sim and placed them in a random lot. I then saved this game and quit The Sims 4 and also quit Origin.

    3) I copied and pasted my backed up "saves" folder into the new "saves" folder in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

    4) I then opened the sims 4 again and clicked on load game. I restored my saved game from before. Unfortunately when I opened the saved game, it was better but there were still a few glitches, so I followed the "last option" steps in this video: https://youtu.be/8geGfBGl2hM?t=150

All the problems from Discover University are gone, it works well now

I hope this is helpful and makes sense
