Re: EA app games won't open, says it needs Origin

@Shopaholic74  Try running the EA App as an admin: right-click on the shortcut and select "Run as administrator."  And make sure your games are NOT set to run as admin.  You can see this by right-clicking the shortcuts or the original .exe files (TS3.exe, TS4_x64.exe, TSM.exe) and selecting Properties > Compatibility.  There's a box to check to run an app as admin; make sure it's unchecked for these.

If this doesn't help, please let me know what antivirus you use.

So I just did that, and now it does go to open the game, but then gives me the alert that the game is already running, which it is not (I do share the account with my mom, so it would be understandable if I cannot play Sims 4 while she also is, but she doesn't play 3 or Medieval, so I know that's not the cause for it)

@Shopaholic74  What antivirus do you use?  If you're not sure, you can check the Task Manager, including the background processes list, for anything that looks like it belongs to an antivirus.

I just did that, and it did not work, it still says that the game (any game I try to open) is already running.

@Shopaholic74  Try creating a new admin Windows account and playing in that.  Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services you normally use.  You'll be able to sign into the EA App and launch your games, but your save data, for Sims 4 at least, won't be available.  That can be addressed later, but this is just for testing.  Let me know whether it works and we can go from there.

@Shopaholic74  Your dxdiag lists a number of Windows errors and nothing about Sims 4, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive
    • Next, open “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)” again
    • Copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • Otherwise, open “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)” again
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Please also clear at least another 10-15 GB on your drive.  While the 12 GB free you currently have isn't so low that it would explain the issues by itself, it's low enough to cause overall system issues, and one of the next suggestions I'd have would require more like 25 GB free.  The Downloads folder is a good place to look for files you don't need anymore, for example .zips you've extracted or installers for apps you've already installed.

@Shopaholic74  I'm so glad to hear that.  It looks like not only did DISM and sfc do their job, they fixed the underlying problem.  Please let me know if you run into any more issues, and if not, enjoy your game.
