Re: How do I get rid of a career requirement sims 4 get to work?

@BeyaNoire

What do you mean with debugged the game?

Try these things out and see if the game works after each one ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Make sure your game is fully updated

2. Remove all potential mods

3. Repair the game in Origin

Merry Christmas

    I shift-clicked the objects and hit debug. Also, the requirement is still there.

    Okay, then let's try resetting the game files to factory settings! You won't loose anything ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Make a backup; copy your The Sims 4-folder from C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to an external drive or somewhere else on your computer, for example your desktop.
    • Rename the The Sims 4-folder in C:\Users\Username\Documents\Electronic Arts to The Sims 4_backup
    • Start the game, make a new save, and see if the error is gone.
      (The game will have created a new The Sims 4-folder in your documents, this is supposed to happen)

        • If yes, continue
        • If no, post a reply telling us the error is still there
    • Start putting folders back in the new The Sims 4-folder. Observe! After every file/folder, start the game and make sure it still works, before putting in the next one.
      • Options.ini - your game settings
      • Saves - your old saves. The sub-folders are not needed. If putting these back causes problem, try putting one back at a time.
      • Screenshots
      • Custom music - if you have any
      • Tray - your library objects; like lots, rooms and sims
      • Mods - your mods and cc, might cause problems when putting back

    If putting back one of the folders was problematic and you did not work it out, please post a reply and we'll see if we can find what your problem is!

    Also, you can activate the cheat testingcheats true, right-click on your sim and skip the current task ๐Ÿ™‚

    After following the steps, the detective career is fine with all saves except for my main save which is the save I typically play on.

    Thatโ€™s not working as I am unable to right click on my sim. Do you just hit the right mouse button?

    @BeyaNoire

    Oh sorry, I mean shift-click!

    If that still does not work, what happens if you cheat-promote your sim, will you still have to do the same thing?

    careers.promote detective

    The farthest save that I can revert to is version 0 which still has the requirement

    @BeyaNoire

    Too bad. I mean it's great that we got it to work on other saves, but it's hard / impossible to fix a corrupt save game. Do you have many families and such in the world? What you could do is save the households and lots to your library, and open them in a new world. You might have to cheat some things like promotions and relationships with sims outside of the household, but it might work? Try just moving the sim that is having the problem, and then if you want to, you can move all others.

    Iโ€™ll probably do that then. Iโ€™m tired of troubleshooting this game.

    @BeyaNoire

    I understand that! They should create a cheat or something that makes the career requirements done! โ˜น๏ธ

    Good luck with your new save, should not cause any problems like this now hen we've cleaned your files!
