I'm having a very similar issue too. My First Pet Stuff fails to download. But I'm not trying to download it?

Last night I was playing with only Base Game & Get to Work to play test a build. All other packs were disabled, not uninstalled. I was having a game freezing constantly issue so I decided to repair my game. When I did that it ran all the packs in the download manager but failed to verify My First Pet Stuff. I filed a report & afterwards my game started. I expected that My First Pet Stuff would not be present or the objects would be unusable. I loaded an empty lot & all My First Pet Stuff was available in Build & worked as objects. That was weird. So I restarted my PC & restarted Origin. When I did this the download manager started running through every Sims pack all over again. All 54 packs needed to verify. This has NEVER happened to me before on just a launch. Again My First Pet Stuff failed to download. Again when loading into the game it appears to still actually be there to play. Schrodinger's Pet Stuff!?

The OP mentioned getting an "optional update". I had that too. Thursday around 3pm I was just shutting down my game to go get the kids from school & I got the pop-up. I figured well that's great it can install & be ready by post-dinner Sim Time! It didn't occur to me that updates are never "optional" at the time. Is this malware? I'm very confused.

I do not play PC often more of a PS4/Xbox gal. I have no CC or Mods. The error says the issue may be internet speed. Mine hovers between 75 & 88 mbps.

I also am having issues accessing the gallery in game. The "connect" just stalls out. Is Origin having issues on their backend? I'm confused if I'm having 1 issue or 2 frankly.
