I have the exact same problem and I have not been able to fix it yet either! I can speak for myself and say that I have windows.
I would love to know how to fix this! PLZ!!!
@krystalval I've moved your post to the Sims 4 PC tech forum. Please try playing the game in windowed mode. Open Options.ini, which is in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).
if that doesn't help, please disable any apps you use that come with overlays: Discord, Steam, etc. Disable the EA App in-game overlay too; the option is under Settings > Application.
