Re: Low FPS drop to 14

@Diablolend  Were you running anything else while playing Sims 4, I mean other than Origin and hwinfo?  The log doesn't contain anything particularly concerning, but it does show that your system was using almost 11 GB of physical memory at peak, and almost 16 GB virtual memory.  While that's not a problem in and of itself—your computer can certainly handle it, and Sims 4 data shouldn't be paged out—it does suggest something else going on in the background, since the game and Windows shouldn't be using that much memory on their own.

Please try playing in a clean boot.

When you reboot, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down anything that doesn't absolutely need to be running: some programs don't get disabled in a clean boot.  You don't need to log again if you don't want to, although I'd be happy to look over another hwinfo log if you do post one.  But while you're playing, both right after loading a save and after the game has been running for at least 10 minutes, bring up the Task Manager and check how much RAM Sims 4 is using as well as the system overall.  Let me know what kind of numbers you see.

Please also let me know whether this problem started before or after you installed Windows 11.  I've seen a couple of reports of similarly bad performance on 11, although I've also heard from people for whom the game runs perfectly fine.  One difference may be that your CPU isn't supported, even if (as you're seeing) the OS generally runs fine.  Still, games can be more finicky than most software, and not all games run the same.  But of course it's a good idea to rule out more obvious issues before chalking this one up to an incompatibility with the OS.

Just quickly want to add that the CPU (the i5-6400) is indeed not officially supported for Windows 11, when checking the Supported Intel Processors list for Windows 11: here.

Could this maybe be the cause of the issue?

It also makes me question how you were able to install Windows 11 on an, according to Microsoft, incompatible PC. But that is a different story I suppose. 😅

    @puzzlezaddict

There's nothing wrong with my system. Yes, in addition to sims 4, I have a browser, steam, discord and a couple of other programs. Naturally, I tried to turn everything off. It didn't help.

@Diablolend, while I understand that you maybe would like to run Windows 11, the CPU that is in your system is officially not supported for Windows 11, therefore officially marked as incompatible, as per the Microsoft website.

The same counts for Windows 11: The Sims 4, and all other currently available EA-games, officially do not support Windows 11 and it is, because of that, possible that it causes issues with either compatibility or performance. Of course it might run on your system, however this will not guarantee that it runs well.

As Puzzleaddict mentioned, the reports regarding The Sims 4 on Windows 11 are mixed, and the CPU is not officially compatible with Windows 11. Even if you mention that the issue was also present when running Windows 10, upgrading to Windows 11 does not make it easier for us to troubleshoot if either the game and the CPU are not officially supported for the OS.

I would also indeed recommend to check if doing a clean-boot in Windows 11 > Play the game results in the same issues for you, as Puzzleaddict mentioned. If this is the case, maybe the best thing you can check is seeing if you can still roll-back to Windows 10 and maybe repeat the clean-boot process.
  • So. We don't come to anything at all. I have stated my problem. I don't want to dig into the system when everything is fine with it. I have already written that the problem is not in Windows 11 or something else in my system. Just let the developers know that there is such a problem and it remains. I'll be happy with that already. Thanks.

@Diablolend  This is not a Sims 4 issue, and it may not even be a "Sims 4 on a system running Windows 11 on hardware that's not officially supported" issue either.  If it were, we'd see many other reports, not just the three or so I've read.  There are other known low fps issues, but yours doesn't fit into those categories.  Since it's not universal, the issue is by definition at least in part due to something on your system.  Therefore, this is not a problem for the developers to solve.

If you'd like to continue troubleshooting, let me know.  But the first step would be to eliminate some of the remaining variables, which it sounds like you're not interested in doing.

@puzzlezaddict I am interested in the normal experience of playing The Sims 4. Not in endless work as a tester. I think the company is able to hire such people.
At the moment, this is the only game that has similar problems.

@puzzlezaddict A year later, I went back into the game for nothing to do. And again I faced this problem on an ongoing basis. I wanted to delete this game again, but I thought I could turn off different functions of the game. And what did it give me?
The problem was suddenly solved. The problem is not with my windows 11. Not in any pc problems (as I said).

    So. What did I do?
I just disabled exactly one function! In the settings, there is an enabling and disabling Eco Footprint.

I hope that I will help someone with this. And I will save someone from depression from this game.

@Diablolend I hate to revive an old post but even this setting does not fix the issue with the current update.
I'm still getting drops to 12-14 FPS randomly and the only thing that fixes them is opening and closing the menu.

Maxis seriously needs to get this fixed, it's been 3 years!
