Re: [MOD RELATED] Can't buy cows, seeds, or chickens???

HI  @pixelplagues

Try resetting your user files as described in the factory reset described in this post: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4/FAQ-Troubleshooting-Steps-amp-Known-Issues/m-p/3621199

You won't loose anything. Just make sure to not delete any files  and make a backup.

After renaming, repair your game by right clicking on the game in Origin.

Try on a new game with nothing added back first (start new game). If it works, put back your save game and try again. If it still works, you can start putting stuff back.

  • Options.ini (or just re-set all your settings manually)
  • Tray Folder
  • Screenshots/Videos/Custom music
  • Rest of the save games (leave out slot_00000001.save which is the autosave and no longer needed - if you still have it)
  • Custom content like clothing, hair, skins, make up ....
  • ConfigOverride, if you have your own configuration files.
  • Mods (one by one, making sure they all still work)

The rest does not need putting back, cause they are mostly cache files that recreate or log files that are not needed for the game.

  • I did try this as i am having the same issues and it does not work for me, i tested all my mods folders but nothing seems to be the issue. It started with the most recent Sims patch update.

Also, all Doors and computers disappear and i cannot place new ones due to ”scripting errors”

@mollydogandcat You just need to remove/update your mods and delete the localthumbcache file. Above suggestion it to test if it happens on a vanilla game but it seems it's now been identified which mod is causing that so update or remove that.

UI Extension Mod is causing the issue. Just take the Mod out of your Mod folder and restart your game.

Sorry, I'm new to Simming. Where do you place the UI mod when you remove it from the mods folder? Forgive me, completely new to all of this. They should have really planned for that mod being in everyone's game before they released it.

@teslascoil89  Just put the mod on your desktop, or trash it; it doesn't really matter as long as it's not in Mods.

EA is not responsible for how people use mods or for making patches compatible with existing mods, no matter how popular they are.  It's the modders' responsibility to ensure their content is compatible with the game, and it's on the players to keep mods updated or remove them when broken.  Besides, the only way to keep mods from breaking would be to never change any features that those mods affect, which would basically mean no new gameplay content.

Yes, I started investigating and I disabled my CC (even though I had some great stuff ☹️ ). That fixed it. And I found my IT guy when I got the game had downloaded UI Extension and put it in its own folder by itself. Yes, I understand, I figured it was the mod makers.
