I tried drowning my sim and he hasn't died for a week and has had the "starve to death" for a few sim days and still won't die

You mention the weirdo trait which is sometimes found in game generated Sims.
Is the Sim one you created or an NPC / Townie?
Some of the Sims already in the game have special traits that make them immune to death or even aging.
Is this what you did to try to reset the Sim?
To reset a Sim:
ResetSim method: Type resetSim Firstname Lastname and click Enter.
If the game tells you the Sim cannot be found it could be the name is not spelled correctly or there is an extra space between the first and last name.
I have not tried the resetSim * cheat so am not familiar with how it shoud work.
Testingcheats true method:
1. Type testingcheats true and click Enter.
2. Press the Shift button and then click on the Sim you want to reset.
3. Select the Reset Object (Debug) option.
4. Type testingcheats false and click Enter.
This is the one I am most likely to use and find it reliable.

Keep in mind EA/Maxis does not either support or guarantee a positive outcome when using cheats or mods.
Always save your game before using cheats. That will allow you to go back to the point before the cheat was used should you have a negative or unexpected outcome.
