We continue to investigate the issue some fans are having when attempting to redeem the free Desert Luxe Kit, at this time we believe that a certain subset of entitlements are not being recognized correctly and are therefor not entitling players to redeem the kit at no cost.
I will update this thread as we get new information to share on this from our teams involved in the investigation process. @TheSimsDirect would also be a great resource to follow for updates to this issue.
Update: We have begun granting the Desert Luxe content to those eligible to receive it in this thread, if you are still unable to claim the Desert Luxe Kit at this time please either reach out to us at Help.ea.com or at @EAHelp on Twitter so we can best assist. Thanks!
I have exactly the same problem. Couldnt update the game yesterday, the support told me to switch to the EA App. Well, I can enter my Sims game, but no discount for me. I spent literally the whole day on the internet to fix the problem - didnt work. And all the support dude told me on the phone was that I am wrong and the kit isnt free at all. I love when people know their job. Anyway, is there still a way to claim the kit before the date expires? Its just so unfair that everyone else is getting the kit except for me âšī¸ (and all the players who have the same issue, thats not our fault).
There are no date on when to redeem the free kit. You just have to own the basegame before Sep, 14.

The kit is free until 8:00 AM PST on October 18th. We're still investigating this issue and hope to have an update to share soon.

Yes, that is the subset of user entitlements we're working on at the moment. You should be able to grab the Desert Luxe kit for free when this issue is resolved.
Hello, I am also unable to claim the kit. I have tried a reinstall through the EA app as well.
I also cannot claim the kit. Through EA it wants to charge me and through the game's main menu, when I click on the kit and click free it just closes the window.
I'm sure you're probably swamped with responses but I'm also having issues. I purchased the game on September 13th (terrible timing I know) but when I access the desert luxe pack on origin through both the app and through chrome is still comes up as being $7.95 AUD.
If you could help me sort this out I'd really appreciate it, thanks!

Hi, I purchased the game in September only but when I access the desert luxe pack on origin through both the app, the game or through the web it still comes up as being Rs. 299.
If you could help me sort this out I'd really appreciate it, thanks!
Hello! I have the same issue as a bunch of people in this thread (bought the game as a physical copy instead of buying it through origin) and would be incredibly thankful if you could give me access to the kit as well!

I am unable as well to download without the Payment window appearing and requiring information. Are all updates *required* to download the Desert Luxe Kit?
Community ManagerYou will be required to enter payment info into this window to claim the pack- but you should not be charged anything for the kit. If Origin or the EA App is showing a price on this kit after you enter payment information instead of showing the kit listed as free, please let me know.
I have the same exact problem and am unable to redeem it.
After entering the payment information, it proceeded to the next screen showing $0.00 and then thanking me for my purchase. However, it is not downloading the Kit.
It seems that it is *requiring* me to update my game, which I do not want to do until some -major- bugs are fixed (i.e. aging, adult/child-teen relationship glitch [my 8 y/o watches me play sometimes.. the question about that interaction would be very uncomfortable to answer], etc.). So.. is it necessary to do ALL the updates in order to download and use the Kit?
