Error 22 usually occurs if something else is blocking a file or another program is interfering.
Do you have any cloud services running in the back or a Update or Virus Scan ?

How would I go about checking to see if I do have an update or virus scan running in the background?
there should be an indication in your tray bar in the lower right corner. Check there if Windows is doing an update.
You can also try if it runs if you do a clean boot to make sure nothing is blocking in the back: https://help.ea.com/uk/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/
If it works in clean mode, then it's a conflict with a background program. Turn stuff back on after trying and find out what's running. You can also check your task manager (right click on the bar at the bottom and choose task manager.
