Re: Sims 4 crashes past Create A Sim

@isurani  Thanks for posting the dxdiag and doing all that troubleshooting on your own already.  The dxdiag itself shows a number of errors related to OpenGL, so I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of both graphics drivers.  First though, please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

  • Hit Windows key-X
  • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
  • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
  • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
  • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
  • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
  • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
  • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Here's how to clean-uninstall and reinstall the graphics drivers:

https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

The order of operations here is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the AMD driver > restart > install the AMD driver > restart > install the Nvidia driver > restart, all while your computer is offline.  Please use the drivers provided by Lenovo for your laptop:

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/gaming-series/ideapad-gaming-3-15arh05/82ey/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Graphics%20Processing%20Units%20%28GPU%29%20and%20Server-AI%20Accelerators

You may need to update the Nvidia driver later, but it's best to try these first, especially since updating is simple while reverting to an older driver would require a clean uninstall of the current one.

If the game still crashes after you've done all of the above, please post a new dxdiag.

    unfortunately, it's still crashing.

running the verification i got this

    "Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=243077."

    and then

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag."

here is my next DxDiag. thank you for all the help regardless.

@isurani  It looks like you increased the page file size by even more than I suggested.  That's fine in theory, but in practice, it means your hard drive is almost completely out of space, with just 12 GB left.  So plese try clearing another 20 GB or so before you do anything else.

Since DISM couldn't run properly and sfc failed to repair some corrupt files, I'd strongly suggest running a repair install:

    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

You can download an ISO onto your computer and use that, but you'll need more free space than you currently have.  Or you can use a USB stick.  But either way, it's still best to have more space on your C drive: I wouldn't let it get below 25 GB free under any circumstances, although it's okay if it's below that after you've created the ISO since you'll just be deleting that when you're done.  (Do make sure to delete it when you're done.)

The repair install process allows you to keep all your data, but if you get to step 13 and do NOT see the option to keep your personal files, back out of the process and start over.
