Re: SIMS 4 CRASHING ON LAUNCH OCTOBER 2024

I am having the Same issues Sims4 not working, on my laptop. its worked fine previously I have over 100 hours on Steam.

checked the integrity of the files uninstalled/reinstalled the game and the EA App.

when I launch the game from steam, it says "loading" and then "playing" for about 10 seconds but nothing plays, the game isn't loaded or open in the background nothing.

if i try to launch the game from the EA App - it says loading game and then nothing happens

when I try to load the games direct EXE file - the EA app appears with "loading game" - the "location services" turns on on my computer real quick and then nothing happens.

I've tried laaunching it as Admin and a regular user and same issue. I've installed both the game and app and tried to reinstall - same thing - Steam things its playing, for about 5-10 seconds it says playing and then goes back like it never showed up.

I've updated my computer fully, with windows update and going directly to my laptops website to download any that where missed.

I've checked "perfmon /rel" and I'm not seeing any crashes at the times the game is crashing.

I've changed the global settings in nvidia to let the computer decide and to "high performance"

I've removed all mods

I've removed the EA folder in my documents

I did the dxdiag and i dont know how to read it.

the game wont launch at all 😢

I have other games on my laptop and they work fine,  its just the sims that's affect.

@Angel_The_Shiba  Do you have Steam family sharing enabled?  If so, please disable it and test.  This setting doesn't get along with EA games.

And just to be clear, you confirmed that your Steam and EA accounts are properly connected to each other?  I think so but am not completely sure from what you wrote before, and I don't want to overlook anything.

Aside from that, what antivirus do you use, and does it help to (temporarily) disable it?  As long as you don't do anything else while testing, your computer should be safe.  You'd want to repair Sims 4 again, through Steam ("Verify integrity of the local files") after disabling the AV and before testing.

  • @Angel_The_Shiba  Thanks for the dxdiag.  Most of the errors it lists are crashes of a component of the Nvidia graphics driver, so please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the driver, as described here:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

You can leave the AMD graphics driver alone for now.

If you still can't play, please run both Steam and the EA App as an admin: right-click each desktop shortcut and select "Run as administrator."

Please also make sure you're signed into the Steam and EA accounts that are connected to each other.  The easiest way is to sign into the EA App using your Steam credentials.  If you land in the correct EA account, you're fine; if anything else happens, let me know.

  • okay so I did a full uninstall of the driver - rebooted

got a new install file and installed manually from nvidia - rebooted

launched the sims and same issues

I'm logged into steam/ea: EA knows i have the game through steam

I've launched the EA app as an admin,

I cant launch the desktop icon as an admin since that just lacunhes steam but i tried launching the exe from here

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\TS4_x64

as an admin and same thing - ea says preparing game location services icon appear and then disappears but nothing else happens, game isnt running

    i ran the dxdiag again

@Angel_The_Shiba  As a test, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it with your Microsoft account.  (The options are something like "I don't have this person's email" and "create an account without an email address.")  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user data won't be available.

I meant launch Steam and the EA App as an admin, not Sims 4.  It's best to launch the game itself from within Steam, not from its desktop shortcut.

  • quick video of what happens 🙂

@puzzlezaddicthey sorry, I left my computer at my dads house. I made a local account and used my EA/Steam profile to launch Sims4 and it has the same behavior,
