Re: Sims 4: Error code 801

I have that same error code,  I took out my mods before updating though. Whenever my sim tried to move into university housing, go to a community lot, or move my sim into a new house the game glitches and i get the 801 error try restarting your game. When my sims went on vacation the lot wouldnt show up and after I went to manage worlds and back into where my sims were on vacation the house was literally in the air and you couldn't see the house except all the furniture. Could it be my saves were corrupted?

@TattedScorpio86  Please post the exact error code you're seeing, not just the 801 but the part after it.  Please also start a new save and see if the same thing happens when a sim travels.  Be sure to leave your mods out for now.

That's all that comes up, I have created a new house hold and new save which is what I'm playing now.

@TattedScorpio86 I checked your save and while I didn't have issues with travelling with the family (didn't try enrolling and moving), I noticed that you have this issue on almost all other households: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/MOD-RELATED-Sims-disappeared-from-household-Blue-flashing-square/m-p/8428174#M155726

This is a savegame corruption for saving the game with an outdated mod in unfortunately can't be save because the Sims got deleted from your game, leaving the empty household behind.

I checked the oldest backup and that unfortunately is also corrupted.

Do you have any other backups ?

Oh dang.. do you think if I move my sims 4 folder and play that'll fix it?

@TattedScorpio86 Don't think so cause I could duplicate. Means it's saved with the save game.

Going back to a working backup or start a fresh save (after removing the faulty mods) seems to help with this.

I completely moved and deleted the existing sims 4 folder (mods included) and restarted my game 100% over, 5 years worth of achievements gone. So far its working alot better, once my teen ages up I'll test moving into uni. I greatly appreciate your help!!

@TattedScorpio86 Make sure to create regular backups in the future, especially if you intend to use mods.

Basically, before patching, create a copy of your saves folder to a safe place. You can also do it after patching but make sure not to start the game before doing the backup.

I will definitely from now on. The fresh restart worked, my sim was able to move into uni dorms, thank you so much for your help!
