Re: Sims 4 game freezes 9/10 times played

@immunetree2  When you say you've tried a vanilla game, does that include a clean game folder?  If not, please move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, launch the game to create a new folder, and test a new save.   If it works, that means there's something corrupt in your old game folder.  You can test any mods you want to keep using in the new folder, then when you're satisfied everything works, move over the contents of your Saves and Tray folders as well.

If the game still freezes in a clean folder, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@immunetree2  Like I said, go into Documents\Electronic Arts, move the Sims 4 folder to the desktop, and launch the game.  A clean folder will spawn with no content.  This is the best way to test whether the issue is user data (mods, custom content, a corrupt save, a corrupt cache file) or something on your system.

@puzzlezaddict   Alright, I launched a new game with the clean folder and spent about an hour building an entire house which before would've almost definitely caused my computer to freeze. But I don't see how it could be the mods because it was doing this long before I even had any cc.

@immunetree2  Other files in your game folder can become corrupted and cause problems; mods and cc are just the most common cause.  An individual save can also be corrupt, or it can be overloaded to the point where the game will crash when trying to run it on an underpowered computer.  Sometimes it's difficult to know exactly what the problem is.

If you want to keep testing, you can start adding content to your clean game folder to see whether you get any more crashes.  Leave your saves for last, after you're satisfied that everything else works.  Aside from saves, the only files you would want to keep are in Tray and possibly Mods; the rest are disposable and will regenerate as necessary.
