you can only purchase retail and restaurant lots (you need the according expansion/game pack for that)
If you want to be able to purchase other lots, you'll need a mod

Bowling Stuff Expansion and it lets me switch to that lot no problem just a matter of buying the lot after i have selected the type of lot i want

That's the ONLY two you can buy
not sure it is the same lot i could put a restaurant on i just before i buy it change the type of lot i want it to be instead of restaurant i change it to bar
You can't purchase lots that are bars.

You can still build a bowling alley. Your Sim just can't own it.

As said above, there's a mod out there that can help you with this (not sure if it's been updated for bowling though)

It's called: More Buyable Venues and new Venue Types and you can find it at modthesims.

Ok i got the mob bought my bar only one problem i have no way to give money to my business cause it doesnt recognize the i have the bar as a restaurant or what ever it only shows my one restaurant so i cant transfer funds to it to build it
You'll have to ask the modder for the detail on how it works.
