@puzzlezaddict Last night I did that, and it repaired the game. Over all yesterday I spent about 10 hours repairing the game. Now its back up and running.

@puzzlezaddict I did all of that and nothing happened. It still says "verifying game files" 0hours 0minutes 0seconds remaining. I've cleared the cache, reset my computer and quit origin countless amounts of times.

@potspag  Do you use a third-party antivirus, and if so, does it help to disable it?  As long as you don't do anything other than open Origin and (hopefully) Sims 4, your computer should be safe.  It's still a good idea to clear Origin's cache after disabling the antivirus, then repair the game.

If that doesn't help, disable automatic game updates in Origin; the setting is under Application Settings > Application > Client Update.  Then restart your computer and see whether it makes a difference.

I am having the same issue as the person who you were helping. i read everything you said to do, but still nothing is working. it’s saying verifying game files 0hours 0 minutes and 0 seconds left. i really do not know what to do anymore and just really really want to play the game.

@jennathesimmer  Do you have the option to Move Game?  You'd see it by right-clicking on the game tile.  If you do, try moving it to a different folder, one you create yourself just for this purpose.  It can be almost wherever you want, but don't put it inside Documents.  Obviously you can't do this while the game is verifying, but if you clear Origin's cache, disable automatic game updates (under Application Settings > Application > Client update), and restart your computer, Origin shouldn't resume the verifying when you open it again.

No, sadly i don’t have the option to Move Game. I have cleared Origin’s cache and restarted my computer many times. i have moved my Sims 4 folder to my desktop and even tried uninstalling and re installing Origin. Every time it is still stuck even after everything. Is there anything else I can do? I haven’t tried using my phone hotspot yet. I saw that you mentioned that before and it’s worth a shot.

@jennathesimmer  Do you use a third-party antivirus?  If so, try disabling it and clearing Origin's cache again.  Origin might be able to finish verifying the files without interference.

Otherwise, I'd try uninstalling the game and reinstalling it to a different folder.  (If you do use an antivirus, disable it while reinstalling.)  If you can't uninstall the game through Origin, you can use a tool like Revo Uninstaller (free download) instead.  If you do go this route, you might as well uninstall and reinstall Origin too, just to be thorough.  Start with Sims 4:

    • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

    Next, uninstall Origin:

    • Quit Origin if it's still open, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager.  Scroll through looking for Origin entries.  If you find any, click on them and End Task.
    • Next, clear Origin's cache.
    • Launch Revo again and uninstall Origin, and when it's uninstalled, select "Moderate" again and Scan.
    • If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
    • Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders.  Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears.  (This is where other Origin games are installed by default.)  Delete the rest.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, download the full Origin installer and run it.  Here's the direct download link:

    http://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator."  When it's reinstalled, download Sims 4; you can just download the base game at first, to save time, if you want.

Restart after installing and before playing, and allow the game to create a new Sims 4 user folder rather than reusing your existing one.

Thank you so much. I’m going to try that and see if it works thank you! When i remove the folder do i need to keep it on my desktop with a different name? Also, when i do uninstall The Sims4 if i have the file on my desk stop will it save all my save files for the game? Or will i have to start all over? Honestly, even if it doesnt save i just want to be able to play the game.

@jennathesimmer  Your saves are stored in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, and when you move that folder, the saves stay intact even though the game can't read them while they're located elsewhere.  The point of renaming the folder is that Revo is going to look for anything with "Sims 4" in it and flag it for deletion.  While you do have the chance to go through the list of files and folders and exempt any you want to keep, it would be easy to overlook that folder on the list, and then Revo would delete your saves.  But since the folder will have a different name, Revo should leave it alone.

Once the game is reinstalled, load it once to make sure it's working properly.  Then you can move the saves and anything else you'd like to keep to the new Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.

Okay, I’m sorry this is my last question before i try everything. Is Revo compatible with MacBook?  I think i failed to mention that is what i have Origin and The Sims 4 downloaded on.
