Hi! I remember that all discs are single install only. So if you want it to be installed in another laptop, simply download origin and log on to the same Origin ID you installed your game with, check the My Games tab and it will install from there. 🙂

Not a tech help from EA, but as far as I know, this is how I understood their current policy on installing The Sims 4.

    Hope I helped!

My Granddaughter just turned twelve and got Sims4 and a new computer of her own for her birthday. She has been looking forward to having this game for months! She has been playing Sims3 on my computer for over a year. We installed Origin on her new computer and logged into her account. All of her old games showed up, but would not install. We tried entering the code for Sims3 and it said it was already used. So we tried the "BRAND NEW" Sims4 game and got the same message! I contacted EA Sports and was told that the codes we have are "NO GOOD" and have been "RED FLAGGED" so they could not give us a new code. The Sims4 was fresh out of the package and they will not give a new code or do anything at all about the expense that was paid out for the game! Very disappointed with this mattter, and do not think we will ever purchase from them again!!!

okay, I bought the game brand new, put the disc into my computer, installed origin, logged in, it asked for activation code then when I put it in it said it was already used - am I missing something? Has anyone here had this issue solved? I don't know what the game store will say if I try to get it replaced!

this might sound stupid but you can only use product code on one computer, which really sucks

I'm trying to register my game but it says the serial code is invalid/already used

Depending on the situation the solution to this may vary.

You bought the game on Origin
If you bought the game on Origin, it's not necessary to register the code anywhere. Download the Origin Client here: http://origin.com/download, login with the same email you bought the game with and find the game in the My Games tab within the Origin Client to download. You don't need the serial code.

You bought the game on DVD and the box was sealed
Make sure you typed the code right. The following letters look very similar and are easily mistaken for each other

    • 0, O and D
    • 8 and B
    • Z and 2

If it still says it's invalid, try taking it back to the store you bought it from and exchange it. If they are not willing to do that, contact an EA Game Advisor with proof of purchase ready.

You bought the game on DVD and the box was not sealed/it's a used game
Used games cannot be re-registered. Take it back to where you bought it and get a refund.

You bought a key from a key seller
Contact the key seller for a replacement. If you bought the game from a unauthorized seller, it's possible that EA blocked the key if they were bought fraudulently by the seller. You're better off to only buy from authorized sellers.

You have already registered the game yourself and are trying to reinstall the game
The game does not need to be registered again. Login in the Origin Client with the Email/PW you first registered the game on and download and install the game from there. The game only needs to be registered once and you won't need the code again after your initial registration. This is true for both the DVD and the download version. You can skip the activation step on reinstalling.

  • Hi, I'm having this issue, except it's a little different. I've installed the Sims 4 on Origin already and got a chance to play it and everything and set it down for about 2 weeks. I just now picked it back up because I felt like playing it. I clicked on the Sims 4 icon and it took me to the Origin login page. I logged in, then it asked me for an activation code for my game. I thought it was odd, but I proceeded to enter the code in anyway. I entered the code, then it told me the game was already registered. I went to my Origin account and clicked "my games" and all it had registered was the Sims 3, and even then, I don't remember registering the Sims 3 on Origin. Origin is a bad attempt at a new database. I don't want to go through Origin just to play my stupid game, and I don't want to purchase anymore games if I can't even play them! It's ridiculous and needs to be fixed NOW!!!!

  • My sister and I have the disc version and she downloaded it onto her origin account and gave me the disc. She plays the games on origin while she's online. I sign into hers with my wifi off so I'm offline and I can play at the same time she is.

The reason that happened is because you cannot use the same product code twice. Sorry. I hoped this helped
