Re: SIMS 4 UPDATE BROKE GAME?

@Awsomepowers  Thanks for the dxdiag, but I don't see anything definitive, just some errors from the Steam web helper that may or may not be relevant.  (They're not typically associated with any Sims 4 issues.)  But there are plenty of other possibilities.  First, please try setting an exception in your antivirus software for TS4_DX9_x64.exe, the game's new executable as of this patch.

If that doesn't help, please create a new admin Windows account on your computer, as a test, and try playing there.  The account needs to be local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account.  Let me know whether you can play or see a different error.

@Awsomepowers  As a test, could you borrow someone else's EA account and try playing Sims 4 through that?  Your installed packs wouldn't load, but the base game is free to play, so the account owner could add it for testing purposes.  I ask because I'd like to know whether the issue is your account rather than your computer.

An alternative is to test with your account but on a different computer.

@puzzlezaddict I made a different account and testing it on the EA App instead of Steam. Only fear is that I would lose my DLC packs if it works. Will update you once tested. Also I have a firewall via Cortex XDR and a VPN named Global Protect. Both things let the game run before but it seemed after this patch update it doesn't run anymore

@puzzlezaddict Ok so I downloaded the Sims from the EA app on a different account and it opened. However once it closes, it can not open back up afterwards

@Awsomepowers  Please disable your firewall and your VPN, and try again.  When the game works once but not afterwards, it's usually a permissions issue, whether from security software or something else.  And the EA App doesn't respond well to VPNs, although it doesn't necessarily block them all the time.

You may need to repair Sims 4 after disabling the software and before trying to launch the game again.
