Re: Sims 4 will not load after the update

@SuperBeanicools  The crashes in your dxdiag are pretty nonspecific—it's not clear why Sims 4 is crashing, just that it does.  The driver for your graphics chip is a few years old, but it's not clear that that's an issue either.  So while you could update that driver, it might be better to try other steps first.

Try repairing the game in Origin: open your game library, right-click on the Sims 4 icon, and select Repair.  If it doesn't help, clear Origin's cache, restart your computer, and repair again.

If that doesn't help either, please try playing while your computer is not connected to the internet.  You can sign into Origin first and then put it in offline mode before disconnecting.

  • We finally have it working! We have to put origin offline and use the disc but I have a very happy teen. Thank you for your help.

@SuperBeanicools  I'm glad the game works now, although that doesn't sound like an ideal setup.  If you'd like to troubleshoot further, let me know.  Given that the game works only when your computer is offline, I'd say the two most likely suspects are OneDrive, perhaps trying to sync or move the user data folder in Documents and interfering with the game's ability to read that folder; or your antivirus/firewall, objecting to some data Origin is requesting.  For the first, you could disable OneDrive or just disable the auto sync function.  For the second, you could set exceptions for Origin.exe, TS4_x64.exe, and TS4.exe, or try putting Origin in offline mode without disconnecting from the internet.
