@shelly_CHS13  Please try the suggestions in this article:

    https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/crin-error/game-already-running/

If they don't help, let me know what antivirus you use.

You can also try playing in a new admin Windows account.  Make it a local account, as in, don't sign into Microsoft, and don't sync with any other services you normally use.  You'll be able ot sign into your existing EA account and won't need to reinstall the game, but your saves and other user content won't be available.  That can be addressed later; for now, just let me know whether the game loads properly.

  • @jaybird9362  I've split your post into its own thread since the other thread is somewhat old.

Are you in fact running the Legacy Edition, or the standard edition?  The easiest way to find out is to launch the game and then look in the Task Manager.  If you see TS4.exe, that's the LE; the standard version uses TS4_64.exe.  The LE was discontinued a few weeks ago, so if you didn't already have it installed, you might not see the option to switch to it.  (I'm not actually sure what you'd see in Origin.)

If you are in fact running the Legacy Edition, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@puzzlezaddict I'm having a similar issue on Windows 11. Currently have TS4_x64 running and it will not open. When I try to "restart" the game, it says I already have it running. Not sure what to do.

@puzzlezaddict Hi! This says to add Sims 4 as an exception for the blocker. I don't really know what that means or where I can add the exception. This is a brand new PC so I'm still navigating it.

@shelly_CHS13  Do you use a third-party antivirus?  Even if you've never downloaded one, a new PC might come with one pre-installed, so please double-check.  You can look for related services in the Task Manager, particularly in the Startup tab: any antivirus should be set to start with Windows.

@kimbers33  If you clear the EA App's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repair the game, does it then launch in 64-bit?  If not, try temporarily disabling your antivirus and repairing again, that is if you use a third-party antivirus; as long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe.

If this doesn't help, see whether you can reinstall Origin from the link here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Downloading-and-installing-Origin-Windows-and-Mac/m-p/11915666

Even if you'd prefer to keep using the EA App, it's fine to have both installed.  Within Origin, the option to switch to 64-bit should show up if you right-click the Sims 4 icon in your game library and select Game Properties > Advanced Launch Options.  If you don't see it there, run a repair through Origin and look again.
