Re: Sims 4 won't stop crashing with no mods and high specs on PC

Hello,

I am not the original poster of this post so let me know if i should start a new one but i am assisting my fiance with her PC and a similar issue.

After sifting through multiple posts of dxdiags i still cant find one similiar enough to assist my situation.

This person has similiar specs that being a 13900K CPU. I will attach the dxdiag we receive when the game crashes.

Ive booted up the game in dx9 and that assisted for a bit but now it crashes as frequent as it does on normal dxlevels.

We have reinstalled, and i believe the drivers are updated. Im not all familiar with this so please let me know if you can spot anything in the dxdiag.

Thank you

  • @ischray  I've split your post into its own thread because your dxdiag doesn't have the same errors as the original and you therefore may not be seeing the same issue.  (Also, that other thread was kind of a mess before I figured out what was going on with these high-end CPUs.)

The problem for most players with python37_x64 errors on high-end CPUs is an unstable overclock applied by the motherboard, and disabling CPU Turbo Boost, and possibly disabling XMP, has helped.  Updating the BIOS has helped too for those whose boards have released updates to address stability issues on the platform.  I say this not as a recommendation for you but as context and a troubleshooting step you can try, but as noted, the dxdiag you've posted doesn't have the same errors as all the others.

At any rate, your dxdiag lists a number of generic Sims 4 crashes, in both DX9 and 11 modes, that don't say anything useful about the underlying problem.  Essentially, Sims 4 crashed because Sims 4 crashed, because of an access violation.  This type of crash can be due to bad mods or custom content (among many other causes), so please start by removing the Mods folder if there's anything in it at all aside from Resource.cfg.

If that doesn't help, is there any in-game patterm to the crashes?  For example, do they happen at the same sim-time of day, or when playing on the same lot, or having the sims perform the same actions?  Please ask your fiancee and let me know.
