Re: SIMS PACKS NOT BEING RECOGNISED

This is an old thread but I thought I would add to it. This has been my experience too, every so often when I launch the game it will only recognise base game and when I try to load a game it has a list of packs that need to be installed (All packs that I own). I can't remember when it started but it usually is resolved if I exit the game and re-start. Today is the first time it has had the same error even after restarting the game. The only thing I did differently this time was I just moved all my mods onto the desktop to test if an unrelated gameplay issue is caused by the game or mods.

  • @SJWmama  I've split your post into its own thread because the other thread was about a very specific EA-side issue that was resolved at the time.  Does repairing the game help?  Does the EA App still think you own all these packs?

When I exit the game all the packs are listed in EA app. I did try repairing the game when this first started in late 2023 but it's something that only happens occasionally, I probably open the game about 10 times without issue then the next time it will claim I have no expansions installed. Exiting the game and starting it again from the EA app has resolved the issue each time (although as mentioned the error occurred twice in a row a few days ago). Because it only adds a couple of minutes to the process (exit from main menu and then restart the game) I have just been living with the issue.

@SJWmama  This sounds like yet another example of the EA App being difficult for no reason.  I'm not sure what you can do about it other than always open the App first, and make sure it's loading properly.  If it's not, you can force-update it, which often helps.  Go here:

    C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EA Desktop\EA Desktop

and launch the EAUpdater.exe.  To be clear, I'm not saying this is definitely the problem, only that it could be and is worth checking the next time this happens.
