Hi @the_samba_2002,
switching PCs and apps at the same time might not work. Could you try switching to the EA app on your old PC first and see how it looks when you try playing it through the EA app on your PC?

- the_samba_20023 years agoNot applicable@EA_Pythia Hi sorry for long delay it has taken a while to download all of the files onto a portable hard drive, the game ran fine on my old PC. I looked at the paths that i need to copy onto this new PC. So i just wanted to finally confirm i need to uninstall the game from this PC then bring in the files from the old pc and place them into the correct and copied paths like the old one?
@the_samba_2002 I think there's a misunderstanding here. On your new PC, the Sims 4 folder that contains Data, Delta, EP01, etc. contains the game's program files, as in, the data you installed through the EA App. This has nothing to do with saves, saved households, or mods, and you should not be messing with its contents. Leave that folder alone.
Instead, please open Sims 4 on your new computer and find the Sims 4 user folder with this in-game method:
https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
This is the location of the Sims 4 folder that contains your saves and other user data, the same folder that's in the screenshot you posted from your old computer. This is where your saves and other files from the old computer need to go.
To be clear, you ONLY need to move over the contents of saves, Tray, and Mods. It's best to leave the new folders intact and just transfer the individual files, e.g. drag the saves themselves to the new saves folder rather than replacing the new saves folder with your old one. Don't transfer the old resource.cfg inside Mods; use the new one instead.
If you're having trouble with any individual step, please list the full file path to the user folder that you found in-game. More screenshots can help too.

- Froyoshi3 years agoNot applicable@puzzlezaddict I'm having the same kind of issue. From what I can tell, the new pc folder looks like the origin file and doesn't have any of the data, delta, or ep01 stuff. Not sure if that's an issue. Anyway, the user folder looks also looks like the origin file and has the same file names as the new pc folder but the new pc folder has a few extra files. Would moving over the saves, tray, and mods folders to the new pc folder retrieve my saves?
@Froyoshi Please use this in-game method to find your user folder:
https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/
That's where your saves and other user files need to go on the new computer. And yes, transferring these files from the old computer to the new one should allow you to load all that data provided the files are in the correct location.
If this doesn't help, please post screenshots of the files you moved in their current location. I'd like to see the files themselves as well as the address bar (above them) so I can check all the relevant details.
- Froyoshi3 years agoNot applicable@puzzlezaddict ok apologies in advance, but I wanna write everything out so I don't confuse myself. so using your link, I find the "screen capture location path". these are the old files. As for the new files, I'm not sure how to tell if it's under the cloud storage (which has the "extra file" - VideoCameraStates, but the old file doesn't have that) or if it is under documents (which looks the exact same as the old file). I assume it's the documents bc they look the same. So then do I take the 3 files from the old and move them to the new folder or vice versa? and do I just drag them to the Sims4 file? And once the files are transferred, do I have to worry about changing the save location path? Thanks again.
@Froyoshi You can't change the save location, at least not easily. The point is, you've seen the full file path that Sims 4 is reading, so now you need to put your saves and other user data there.
If you're still not sure what to do, please post screenshots: of the file path the game is reading and of the files you want to be able to use. For the latter, make sure the address bar, above the list of files and folders, is showing in the screenshot.
- Froyoshi3 years agoNot applicable@puzzlezaddict Ok i so i move the new files to the old folder (the path that sims 4 can read) or the old folder to the new? Sorry if im making way more complicated than it needs to be. Im just dumb haha
@Froyoshi You move any files you want to use into the folder that Sims 4 is reading, according to the in-game file path.
- Froyoshi3 years agoNot applicable@puzzlezaddict okay I did that, but only one of the five saves from my old computer is on there, from when I had about 30 hrs of playtime. I did look for a recovery folder but it didn't show any. Are all of my other saves just gone or is there anything I can do to get them back? (sorry it's been a bit, I've been pre-occupied with work)
@Froyoshi Do you know of any other places where the other saves might be: on your old computer or in another folder on your new one? Please look around and make sure the saves aren't hiding somewhere, or transfer them again if you have a backup on the old PC or on an external drive or USB stick.
You can also search either computer for Slot_ which should turn up any saves. Open a File Explorer window and click This PC in the left panel first so that the search looks in all directories, not just a subset.

so when i searched "slot" these are what came up. When i open sims, it has 4 saved games, berg (slot...02.save), kendall (slot..03.save), bennet(slot..4.save), and sosa(slot...05.save)
bennet is the only save from the old computer, otherwise, the rest have been made within the past 3 months
berg has 4 recovered files (1 berg, 1 bennet, and 2 Kendall)
Sosa has 2 recovered files (both Sosa)
the files from one drive are moved over to the reg documents file, and the rest are re-copies bc i wasn't sure if i did it right.
otherwise, i traded in laptops so dont have my old computer anymore
@Froyoshi I'm sorry to say it, but it looks like your other saves are gone. Like you, I only see one save from 2021 plus a few from the last few weeks.
As a side note, I'd suggest removing the "saves - copy" folder from inside ...The Sims 4 > saves. It might not matter at all, but it's best to keep that folder's contents clean. You can put this backup somewhere else on your computer, or store it on an external drive or USB stick if you prefer.
