Re: Will I be able to transfer all my Sims 4 DLCs to Steam from Origin???

@littlemerg  You need to buy the Sims 4 base game in Steam before you can buy any packs in Steam.  At $5 U.S., this isn't a big deal, but it doesn't seem worth the hassle given that packs are on sale for the same price in Origin as in Steam.  Plus, you'd still need to run Origin in the background while you played.

The first time you launch an EA game in Steam, or at least one that requires Origin to also be running, you'll be prompted to link your accounts.  You can also go to most EA sites, for example ea.com (but not origin.com), click the login button, and click the Steam logo below the password field.  After entering your Steam credentials, you should be prompted to link to an Origin account.

    @KristinB_0407  Yes, if you buy packs through Origin, you'll be able to install them into your current Steam-installed game without doing anything special.

    @puzzlezaddict If I have Sims 4 Deluxe on Origin, can I just buy the base Sims 4 and my deluxe extras from Origins will move over to Steam? Or no?

    @teashaped  I believe the Digital Deluxe items won't install through Steam if you only own the standard version through Steam, but I haven't seen any reports of this either way.  I'm not sure why you'd want to do this though—you'd still need to run Origin even when playing through Steam, and using Steam adds another layer of complexity and another potential source of error.  So you're spending money just to make things harder on yourself.

    ? I must be confused by what I've read. I assumed if you bought the base game on Steam the DLC would transfer over and run solely through Steam, but it's just forcing you to play through both Origin and Steam and not just Steam then?

    @teashaped  You're correct that DLC from an Origin install will work in a Steam install, but the problem is that the Digital Deluxe bundle of extra stuff doesn't really function as a normal pack.  Instead, it's installed as part of the base game.  That's why I'm saying I don't know for sure whether the content will transfer.

    If you want to test and it doesn't work, you should be able to get a refund from Steam right away.

    I'm a little lost. I've just purchased The Sims 4 on Steam after playing on Origin for 6 years. At this point, I have only started up the game on Steam, and when I have gone to click 'Load Game', a pop-up has warned me that I do not have the required packs installed and I risk losing items. My saves and CC have transferred just fine, and Steam recognises the packs I own without me needing to do anything.

    When Steam recognises that I own DLC, and they are already installed with Origin (the base game is uninstalled), how do I install the packs to use with Steam? I feel like I'm missing something in plain sight.

    @basil7brush  If you sign into Origin, can you download (or redownload, as the case may be) your Origin-owned packs?  You may see two icons for Sims 4 in your Origin library; try the one with the Steam logo on it first.

    @puzzlezaddict All fixed 🙂
    I had to download The Sims 4 on Origin for the packs to re-downloaded. Then I opened The Sims 4 through Steam and all of my DLC is now there.

    Hi! Sorry to bother you but I saw you were answering a lot of people with some knowledge and I wanted to make sure I understood it right. I got the base game through Steam and some DLCs too. I recently found out you could purchase a self made bundle (with packs, kits etc...) through Origin and as I was interested, I was wondering if it'd work? like buying packs on Origin and playing with the base game through Steam would work and the Origin packs would automatically transfer to the Steam base game? or do I have to buy all DLCs through Steam? sorry if that's a bit confusing ^^'

    @Lolitooon_  This would work, and it's a little simpler than what you're imagining.  Once you bought the content through Origin, all you'd need to do would be to sign into Origin and download those new packs, and they'd work with your Steam install.  You wouldn't need to uninstall anything or take any other steps.  The packs wouldn't show up in your Steam library though.
