@karin947  You can try playing a different household within the same save for a few hours: save, quit, reload, and see whether your main household loads.  Use "save as" and rename the save so you don't overwrite your existing one—if this doesn't help, you can trash the new save and try something else.

Another option is to revert to a previous version of this save.  You might lose a little progress, but hopefully not too much.

If that doesn't help either, try evicting your main household and placing them in a different house.  Again, you can "save as" to leave the original save intact.
