Repairing takes forever

Hi!

So I’m running The Sims 4 on a PC with lower-end specs and just today as I was trying to load up the game it wouldn’t and said I had to repair it. Well, now that I’m trying to repair it via Origin, it takes forever AND has caused my computer to basically crash. How do I stop the repair quickly? If EA is going to make their game playable on lower-end machines, their service used to manage the games’ downloads and stuff should work on lower-end machines. It’s also only the repairs that make it slow down a bunch! When installing new packs/updating it works like it should, how come it doesn’t work when repairing?

  • @noxvortexx  Origin has had this issue for a few months now, and it's not clear why, although a few have said it helps to disable their antivirus program before repairing.  Part of the problem is, Origin is going to be replaced by the new EA Desktop App sooner or later, and most of the development resources are going to the new app.

Anyway, you should be able to cancel the repair of a given pack by hovering over the download manager in the lower left corner of the Origin window.  There should be an X icon for each download or repair in the queue.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you so much for explaining. The problem is, it slowed down so much that I was almost unable to cancel the repair. It took about 30 seconds to even get the cancellation confirmation message to show up, which sucks. I figured it’d be better if I just reinstalled the game as repairing just seemed like too much of a hassle. It sucks, but I luckily made a backup of everything. Hopefully problems like this one will be fixed with the new app. I also hope it’ll run better than Origin. Thank you so much, again.
