sdx drops not showing up

Whenever a new sdx drop rolls out, I never receive it, my sims delivery says I'm up to date, but when I try to look for the new thing (the recent curly hair, hearing aids, vitiligo, etc..) I never receive it until another update comes out. I've tried verifying the integrity of my files, deleting cache, resetting my computer, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but it doesn't work, I still don't have Vitiligo in my game and it's an update I've really been looking forward to. I don't know what else to do.

Ok! so i figured out how to fix it!

(I wrote this to explain to people on reddit with the same issue how to fix it like I did)

First you need to move your sims 4 folder out to your desktop.
Then, boot up the Sims 4, the game will create a new Sims 4 Folder. Exit the game again.

The new Sims folder should create new sub-folders with Mods, saves, etc, but these (in the new sims folder) are empty.

Go to your old Sims 4 Folder and open Mods, Saves, Screenshots, and Tray.
One folder at a time, Select all items in the folder (mods for example) not the folder itself.
Then, drag all the items from the old Mods folder, and put them in the new mods folder, repeat this for Mods, Saves, Screenshots, and Tray. If you have any "info log" text documents, such as for wonderfulwims, drag that into the new sims folder too.

Clear cache from the EA app, delete the Avatarcache, Last Exception, and Local Thumbcache from the new Sims 4 folder if it has any. And restart your computer just to be safe!

Let me know if it works!!!

  • @yo_its_gabi  Just to make sure, if you open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Content, do you see a folder inside?  One file will always be there, unless you delete the entire folder, but when an SDX drops, you should see a subfolder with the new content inside.

If that folder isn't present, if the content folder has only the one file inside, please delete the content folder and start your game again.  And make sure SDX drops are (still) enabled in the game options.

I took out the folder and rebooted the game with sdx drops enabled, and the game told me that there were now sdx drops downloading. I waited for them to download and when it was done I rebooted my game, and as before it seemed up-to-date but with no vitiligo.

@yo_its_gabi  Again, what is in the content folder now?  Do you only see a single file, or do you see a folder with further subfolders?  I want to know whether this content isn't downloading, or perhaps downloading and disappearing, or it's present but somehow not being read.

@yo_its_gabi  The only folder that should be there is the last one, 23.0.1.  The others are, I believe, older SDX drops, and the game wouldn't be downloading them.  So what may be happening is that OneDrive, or another syncing service, is downloading these outdated folders for you and confusing the game.

Try deleting everything except 23.0.1 (and the retail file, that can stay too) and see whether the content loads in-game.  If not, open this folder again and see whether the old subfolders have reappeared.  If so, delete them from this folder and from onedrive.com, if OneDrive is running, or whatever other service you're using if you happen to have a third-party syncing app installed.

I logged into OneDrive, and it is not synced. When I delete the other folders in Content, they don't reappear on their own; my game tells me that actually need to redownload them. I've taken the sub-folders out and I still don't have vitiligo.

@yo_its_gabi  Inside the same Sims 4 folder should be a GameVersion.txt.   What version do you see there?  It should be 1.104.58.1230, but let me know whether you see anything different.

Please also clear the EA App cache and repair the game, again if you have already, just to be thorough.

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

If that doesn't help, try moving the Sims 4 folder to the desktop.  A new folder will spawn when you open the game; see whether you get only the correct folder inside content or a pile of them again.  Your saves and other user data won't be available, but the content can be restored later.

The game version.txt file does not have that number, instead, it is: 1.96.397.1020 I guess that means my game isn't updated? what should I do?

@yo_its_gabi  That might mean your game isn't updated, or it could mean that the file isn't being updated.  You can delete it and load the game to the Main Menu, then look at the version number in the lower-right area.  If it's still 1.96, clear the EA App's cache and repair the game, as described.  If it's 1.104, delete the content folder and let the game download yet another fresh copy.
