SDX error, white sim portraits, corrupted save, etc.

Product: The Sims 4

Platform: Windows Desktop (pc)

How often Does the Bug Occur? Always (100%)

What is your current game version number? 1.103.250.1020 (up-to-date as of 6/12/2023)

What expansion, game and stuff packs do you have installed? Growing together, Cottage living, Snowy Escape, Discover University, Island Living, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get to work, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Outdoor Retreat, My First Pet, Backyard Stuff, Kids Room Stuff, Romantic Garden.

How can we find the bug ourselves?

After updating the game, run the game. An error pops up saying "Sims delivery error, An unknown error has occured. Code: 00000008.000000000000000c8. Also, rather than having my last played sim next to the resume message (and the usual 'Oliver has missed you' message), there is a white silhouette of a sim and the word 'resume'. Clicking it or loading a save file results in a 'game failed to save' error code once the game loads, and runs me through the move in a new household process. I can't do this however, as my funds are empty and all the lots are corrupted or something. Also, clicking create a sim crashes the game.

What do you expect to see?

To be able to play my existing saves, to be able to create new ones, and to find receive the deliveries.

Have you installed any customisation within the game (mods, cc)? No.

Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Maybe? I only started seeing this error after patch number 1.102.190.1030. This glitch happened, to a lesser degree, but after I restarted my pc it worked. Restarting my pc has not worked this time.

This may not be relevant to the issue, but I had to do a bunch of stuff to reset my ea account with the transition from origin to ea, long story short some of my details were expired as I hadn't played in about a year and I couldn't log in. This is fixed now, but I had to reinstall the game through ea, so now I have 3 desktop shortcuts for it (the original one, the current one and a duplicate of the current one). Maybe the resinstallation did something to it? I never got this bug before that. Anyway, I'm not very familiar with this sort of thing (I don't even know how to install mods) and haven't tried anything beyond restarting and researching the issue to fix it. I have attatched a few images showing the error. I know there are a few threads that have the same error code, but none seem to have the level of brokeness I'm experiencing. If you have any suggestions that would be much appreciated, thank you, sorry for this very long post : ).

  • Hello.

If anyone is still seeing this error:

    • Make sure your game is updated to the latest version.
    • If you're still seeing the issue with an updated game, try this:
      • On EA App or Origin, switch to Offline mode
      • Launch the game
      • Open the game settings and under the Sims Delivery tab -> uncheck "Automatically Download"
      • If an SDX delivery is listed as being in progress and broken, you may be able to cancel from that same tab
      • Exit the game
      • Switch EA App or Origin back to Online mode
      • Launch the game
      • Open the game settings and under the Sims Delivery tab -> check "Automatically Download"

  • Hi All,

After the latest update I opened the game to find an error code "Sims Delivery Error 00000008-00000000000000c8" looking further it stated an issue with downloading. I tried to redownload but that didn't work. I remove my mods folder whenever there is a new update and put it back after the update. I removed the mods folder and tried starting the game again but got the same error message to which I tried to get it to download the update again, but it didn't seem to want to do that.

    I then came to the forums to find a solution. I have left the mods folder on my desktop and done the following;

    • cleared the cache
    • repaired the game

    I still had the error. I then followed the advice on another post and did the following;

    • removed the sims folder to the desktop renaming it
    • cleared the cache again
    • repaired the game again

this resulted with not being able to load the game at all. A new folder has spawned in the EA folder. I have the EA app on my laptop as when I changed to Origin last time all the add on packs I had bought didn't show up.

I'm not sure what to do next. I've not uninstalled the base game and reinstalled yet. If I do that will I need to do it from the disk or can I do it from the EA app on my desktop?

@witchallonby  I've merged your post with the master thread for this issue.  Please try the suggestion in the accepted solution on page one.

  • The game will load, but i get an error message:

If I click continue, then I get an error message saying that the game can't be saved.
If I click new, then a new game seems to start, but I have 0 resources.
I have tried reinstalling twice and repairing the game a bunch of times. My Nvidia driver is up-to-date, and I'm in Windows 11.
I tried deleting the Electronic Arts folder from my Documents, but that only made the game crash immediately upon startup.
I don't really know what more to do.

    Suggestions?
