I don't think you should get rid of all you mods, but maybe if could be worth going through finding the ones that are messing up and deactivating them? As I'm use that their will be another patch to fix any issues with this current update.

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.If there are no updates to a mod or CC that breaks the game you must remove them until they are updated.

I have plenty of mods and CC. But I choose only from creators that I know will update and are reliable. Also, from time to time, I go through my mods and CC to see if there are some that I do not use that much or at all and I delete them.
