Sim won’t complete task

I’ve tried repeatedly to get my Comp Sci Sim to “dabble with circuit boards” at the robotics workbench for nearly 20 minutes now. She’ll walk over to it, stand idly by as the task timer initiates, and then walk away to do some other task (usually either cook or play basketball, although neither fun nor hunger are particularly low).

My Sim simply cannot stay on task, even after taking a focus potion in a room with focused decor (her mood is “very focused”). I’ve tried the resetSim command, shift-click + reset Sim debug, resetting the workbench, buying a new work bench, exiting and restarting the game, and even running a repair on the game.

I think this bug is specific to a single Sim or perhaps the household at large as she’s in a household with two other family members that are generally behaving, but I have noticed this issue with another Sim in this household to a minor degree. I was trying to get him to paint, and he would also randomly decide that playing basketball was more appealing than painting, even with an “inspired” mood. 

Please advise on how to fix the issue as the game is pretty much unplayable if my Sims aren’t following commands.
