Sims 4 - 'There is a problem with your games setup. Please reinstall your game'

Everytime I try to launch the Sims 4, this comes up. I've researched and tried everything I could find (even unintall and re-install it like it said too), but nothing has worked. I don't know what to do. Please help, I'm going through severe with Sims withdrawl

EDIT: i attached the DxDiag.txt file in case it's needed.

  • @LASimsdesign  A dxdiag is always appreciated, even if it turns out not to have any helpful information.  Yours lists a few generic Windows errors, so please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Since you've already reinstalled once, and it didn't help, please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both Sims 4 and Origin or the EA App.  If you have a third-party antivirus running, please disable it during this entire process, up through the point where you try to play Sims 4 after reinstalling it.

    • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Next, uninstall whichever game launcher you use, also with Revo.  I don't have specific instructions, but it's fairly straightforward.  Just make sure you do NOT delete the folder where you've installed other EA games, if you have one; this would be named Origin Games or EA Games by default.

If you do want to keep using Origin, you can find a download link here:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Origin-Client-Web-Technical/Downloading-and-installing-Origin-Windows-and-Mac/m-p/11915666

When you reinstall Sims 4, please create a new folder on the root level of C.  For example, C:\Games is fine, but don't use C:\Program Files\Games.

Are there any other fixes to this, I've done every last thing I could find online for this, and still nothing. I'm usually pretty tech-savvy so this has been making me really angry. I'm getting the exact error you said and my game runs through Steam. I've reinstalled EA with Revo alongside Sims 4. I've uninstalled all mods/cc, I've used CClean, I've disabled my antivirus. I don't think its a Steam problem as no other Steam game is doing this... only Sims 4. I've repaired my files 90x, uninstalled n reinstalled 8 times, scanned it and everything. I'm not sure what else to do :T . Every solution I've found online hasn't worked either.

@th6_plyr  This has worked for a couple other players who posted back with updates, so it's worth trying.

If it doesn't help you, please let me know, and please also clarify whether you're getting this exact error ("there is a problem with your game's setup, please reinstall") or something else.
